Date: September 26, 2007
The much-hated President of Iran, Mahmood Ahmadinejad, was on a visit to the US this week. Even though the United States has no official relations with his government, he apparently doesn\'t have a hard time getting into the country.

The highlight of his trip consisted of a visit to New York\'s Columbia University, where he was invited to be a guest speaker.

Things went predictably; there were tons of protestors who yelled at him, and the president of the school called him a \"cruel petty dictator.\" And Mahmood said his usual nonsense about the holocaust and Israel, though I notice he is much more cautious and careful in his spin on these topics than he used to be.

The biggest LOL moment of the entire thing, though, was when he was asked about his government\'s persecution of gays. \"In Iran we don\'t have homosexuals like in your country,\" he daid. \"In Iran we do not have this phenomenon, I don\'t know who has told you that we have it,\" he added.

Are you really surprised?
He does seem to have the nerve of a canal horse, but remember he had to have gall just to survive his environment let alone rise to the top. He will be defiant when he faces his firing squad.
He does exhibit the hallmarks of a "cruel petty dictator."
Somehow I couldn't help getting the feeling he doesn't REALLY believe this stuff himself. Too many tells. My BS meter was going off the scale just by observing his body language.
At some points he appeared whinny and at other times un-necessarily bellicose.

The United States, as the host country of the UN HQ, must allow any foreign heads of state or diplomatic staff within a 25-mile radius of the HQ during the annual General Assembly opening.

The part about homosexuals was LoLworthy. It's almost like he's trying to say, "What? My country has no homosexuals, we've never heard of homosexuals, what's a homosexual?!!" and being all defensive.

Yup it's certainly worse than gay bashing with baseball bats or even beating with bats the poor and homeless.

Why was Ahmadinejad an acceptable speaker and Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, not? [ 1] Does anyone here think the Minuteman Project has worse ambitions or more ability to accomplish them than the Iranian President?

Easy! Political Correctness is the futile theory that you can possibly be, do or say anything which will not offend somebody.
In practice it is the suppression of anyone or anything which counters THEIR agenda.
