Bin Laden released another tape the other day. It feels like he releases them all the time, but this was actually his first one since 2004. <br> <br>I really encourage you to read the transcript of this new one, because it\'s just flat-out bizarre. Bin Laden comes off much less like an evil Islamic supervillian, and more like a whiny undergrad. <br> <br>Among the topics covered: why capitalism sucks, why both the US political parties are the same, the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War, Noam Chomsky, Michael Scheuer, real estate mortgages, and the Kyoto Accord.

Things like this are interesting, as I would rather hope it marks a shift from violence action in the Middle East to nonviolent actions. While I don't agree with the ideology that drives people like Osama, people in the Middle East listen to him and they do have gripes against the western world, and I will hand it to them that a few of them are quite legitimate gripes. Perhaps, one day, the Middle East will grow disillusioned with the needless wanton bloodshed that they put upon each other and learn to solve their differences and voice their views without having to blow up a car in a crowd full of people.

Not bloody hell likely, though. I think a much more likely reason he's resorted to more whining speeches than 'kill the infidel' type thing is that he's trying to undermine the war effort against radical Islam, and he figures a 'good cop, bad cop' approach might work. His people will kill you, yes, but he'd rather just lecture you on why you should feel bad. Or something.
