It saves as a GIF on my desktop (20110504.jpg.gif), and if you link directly to the image the titlebar says "GIF format image." If that's not enough for you, open the file in Notepad or a hex editor. The first few bytes say "GIF89" as is necessitated by the GIF 1989 file format (as opposed to the GIF 1987 format, which would say "GIF87").

Just like those who see a conspiracy in Osama's DNA test and burial at sea, you're looking for a conspiracy that all evidence completely refutes.

I for one will not be satisfied until I see the long form GIF certificate.

Congratulations! You win the thread, the forum, and possibly the entire internet.

Enjoyed the comic as always. Really enjoyed the Pokemon reference, considering I'm getting back into the games

But why the deception? Why hide behind cloak and daggers? What's his angle?

Great comic.
I for one am absolutely intrigued by these election results. It will be interesting to watch how everything shakes down over the next Parliament, most notably pertaining to all the opposition parties, each of which had either a historically successful showing or got absolutely crushed. I look forward to watching what the Liberals do to try to rebuild and whether or not the NDP can maintain itself.

Strangely enough, if you look at previous comics, their files actually have names ending with .gif (and also are actually GIFs). I wonder why this file was given a name not corresponding to it's actual format.

It's probably a typo. Ya deal with both file formats a lot and every once in a while you're bound to type the wrong one. It's the same as people getting "good" and "well" confused when they speak.

Look, I am trying to do the work of the Filibusterian people, here. We do not have time to get distracted with these sorts of irrelevant side issues while so many important news stories go uncartooned.

Okay, I apologize for my distracting post. Though this particular side issue only generated a few short posts. It may seem greater because this thread is still fairly short and thus doesn't have that many on-topic posts.

Even though the election result reported in the strip is quite astonishing, this thread has recieved much fewer replies than threads involving some other strips. For some reason people don't come throwing around their opinions nearly as much here as in e.g. in the thread involving the strip "Half-solutions to the debt".

Edit: Inserted a missing word.

If the NDP keeps their Quebec support alive in 2014, and they manage to stop vote splitting in Ontario and have more Liberals hop over to their side, they can win a minority without winning gaining any new seats in the rest of Canada.

Southern Ontario holds the key. That and the way Harper governs in the next four years. If he moves far too much to the right, we could see a massive East - West divide again. But if continues to govern from the centre, 2014 will be highly competitive and could swing either way.

This must be how politicians see themselves at night when laying in bed.

Delight promotes agreement. Laughing at JJ's boilerplate Head of State reply to conspiracy theories prevents us from getting snippy and starting flame wars.
