Well, specifically, the USSR policy was to kill anyone who espoused any religion at all.

This is, incidentally, part of the reason the Russian populous initially thought the Nazis were liberators. Then they set up deathcamps, so six of one, half-dozen of the other.

"Soldiers."

I didn't mean to imply she would ONLY lose if she was a lesbian, but it's still relevant. If she does lose, it will mean there has never been an elected gay head of state, just as if Obama lost it would have meant America never elected a nonwhite president. We're drawing all sorts of conclusions on why an atheist has never been head of state, why is it wrong to do the same about homosexuals?

Im saying its not that big a deal; I am sure there has been one or two homosexual or at least bi-sexual heads of state. The fact that we now have an openly gay woman doesn’t mean a hell of a lot to me, the same as if we had someone running that was openly agnostic or atheist. Sure it shows the zeitgeist is moving, and that people are becoming more tolerant and less narrow minded but how much does a person’s personal life impact on their ability to govern.

I guess during the US election, for example, there were implications that if Obama lost, it'd be because of his race, and that is...you know, rather shameful implication itself...if that makes sense.

It should be interesting to she how long she lasts. With the shape that country is in right now, I would not want that job. If does not get better in the near future, she maybe in trouble.

Nor would I. joining the EU is no solution, that will take years to implement.
I wonder how close they are to defaulting on their loans,
that be something to watch; an entire country going bankrupt.

I fail to see the point? I have yet to hear a word uttered about God by any elected official in Sweden in recent modern history. I'm sure that goes for all Scandinavian nations.

2011 ?

Thats 2 YEARS from now.

many different chapters to open, harmonize and close regarding
civil and criminal law
environment
education
economics ..... ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL not a chance.. 18% interest rates

Plus, and believe this, Latvia was 0.1% off the inflation target for joining
the Euro, and they were refused. The Eastern countries will not forget
that piece of shit.

You can use the Icy Krona for toilet paper now, thats whats it good for.

and what about Turkey ?
and it seems it also depends on Croatia being ready, and there is no
guarantee for that.

I think Iceland needs to worry about the next 6-9 months, not
some fairy tale 2 years from now.

Oh, right, and who controls the police in Gaza ?

Given that 97% of blacks voted for Obama he clearly won because people voted for him just because he was black. Therefore, if this is acceptable then it is also acceptable to vote against him just because he is black.

Even if they get into the EU right away, it does not many that all will be fixed. It is still going to be hard going. After all the EU itself right now is not in the greatest shape and France and Germany can only care so much of the load for so long.
