Agreed. I also hate that the Limbaughs of the world are now regarded as being in the forefront of conservative thought. It makes other serious conservatives, the ones who don't wander around in a frothing-mouth frenzy all day long over the so-called "culture war" look bad merely because of the Limbaugh types having co-opted the "conservative" label.

If I lived in the states It'd be an easy choice. I know that the liberals are going to royally fuck up just about everything they touch, but at least the libertarian foudations of the country would remain more-or-less intact. Not so much with the contemporary American conservatives however. Not only will they royally fuck up even worse than the liberals could ever manage to do (see eight years of GW Bush as incontrovertable empirical evidence) but they'd manage the shred up the entire libertarian American ethos at the same time. As far as I'm concerned they'd insitute a theocracy as bad as the one in Iran if they're given a chance.

Here's genuinely hoping that Obama is given the opportunity to appoint at least three justices to the Supreme Court who would rather err on the side of liberty and American constitutional tradition rather than on the side of the mouth breathers of JeebusLand

It's nice to see how our polite discussion of a medium has been subverted by bickering partisanship. It's such a great omen as to what we can expect from greater, more substantial discourse in the wider world.

We get the government our actions deserve.

You can't read can you? If she held them to the contact (which she could have) she would have bilked AAR for money they could not afford to pay at a point where new management had just bought the brand and it would have been a lose-lose with a pubic Don Imus styled blowup but she didn't take the bait, she walked. As you said about the you can't fire me I quit that was her contract. They legally could not fire her unless she agreed to new terms. Anyway you're not adding context here your just trolling. Are your not interested in the topic?

Psudo, I'm sorry for the derailment to what was otherwise a civil discussion on a topic that we both are interested in. I just find that being silent to the Limbaughs of the world is the wrong course of action in the greater scheme of things AKA All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

Word life. It was the necessity of having to cater to the Limbaugh way of thinking in the Republican Party that forced John McCain to abandon years of moderate conservatism and centrism during his presidential run. It was clear for years that the radical wing hated him but he had to give in a adopt further-right policies than he ever would have on his own and it culminated in the selection of a extremist nutcase churchgoer like Sarah Palin for VP just to keep the other extremist church nuts happy. Whatever one thinks of Barack Obama is irrelevent if for no other reason than McCain losing kept the theocrats out of the White House for at least four years.

The McCain of 2000 might have made an excellent and intelligent presidential choice. A McCain of 2008, in ill-health and subject to the whims of radicals, would have been a formula for complete disaster for the US and, potentially, the world. I think that Obama vacillated too much on the Rev Wright controversy but I'd rather have a president that went to the Church of the Angry Black Man instead of a vice-president who regularly attended services at a church that still believes in witch-burning and is actively cheering for Armageddon to happen in their lifetimes.

hwacker is no Limbaugh, and neither of them is evil. And while you're arguing with a brick wall on the internet, the actual good to do in the world sits undone.

But if you're enjoying yourself, enjoy yourself. Just don't imagine you're so different from talk show hosts who argue rather than think.

So even though the Vice President literally has zero power, you'd vote against McCain because of her, while at the same time not harping on Obama for his just as extreme religious views, even though the office of the President has exponentially more power. This is the hypocrisy that I've been expecting. The fact is, they both were extreme, and I didn't like either. That being said, the fact you can pick one side over the other just shows how...how can I say this politely...narrow your vision has been on the focus of Sarah Palin.

Also, anybody who starts about the "heartbeat" away from the Presidency with Sarah Palin is just an asshole, actually factoring in the chance of a man dying on his choice. For all we know Obama might drop dead tomorrow from lung cancer too.

Trying to get back on topic (Sigh, I still can't believe beating the dead horse known as the McCain campaign is not over yet), conservative radio, like I believe Fox News, is basically a sort of bogeyman. 90% of this site probably hasn't seen an ounce of Fox News, and yet they start bringing it up in any discussion to ridicule conservatives, when they themselves haven't watched it or heard it outside of cherry picking a few clips on Youtube.

I listen to conservative radio because it's entertaining, moreso than most music stations, just like some liberals on this site read their favorite blogs instead of going onto Newgrounds or Addicting Games. Plus, the radio is a great form of media. It still allows me to write, read, or play a game either on the computer, the PS2, or even on my bed writing a paper or reading a book.

No, I don't think either is evil I just think that evil is the net sum when they can make clearly bombastic and unsubstantiated allegations on a routine basis and have no fear of being challenged. To say he or Rush is evil is to infer their POV is wholly invalid and that's not true either but their intent is clear.

Well I grant that is the case with Hwacker but as with a good game of squash you need a wall to improve form.

I enjoy sport but at the same time I understand that the act of defiance has merit. Just as the man who threw his shoes as Bush made the headlines while he ended up with a broken arm and ribs. Saying “This is a farewell kiss, you dog,” he yelled in Arabic as he threw his shoes. “This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.” was saying truth to power. One may quibble with what he did but what he said has more truth to it and will be what is remembered then what Bush is trying to spin during his 'victory lap' and trying to justify the worst presidency in the history of the United States of America.

No fear of being challenged? Rush can have callers to discuss points that they disagree with, plus there are plenty of people here that will pull little tidbits of his radio show and start yelling from the highest rooftops.

Hwacker is no different. You can challenge him all you like, just reply to his post.

And this here is no different from those bombastic talk show hosts you claim should be fought against. "Worst President in the history of the United States of America", "saying truth to power", so on and so forth. So out of the 43 Presidents of the United States, Bush is the worst? Because of Iraq? You're not thinking, you're just arguing. This is no different from you comparing different dictators who suspended Parliament to Harper who did the same thing. You're not thinking or rationally discussing, you're just trying to inflame tensions and provoke fights, and not actually discuss or debate an actual point.

Kid, when he calls people he doesn't agree with as dykes and immigrants and liberals as worthless trash and I see you getting off your ass and calling him on it instead of cheering him on with silent acquiescence then you can chime in.Till such time fuck off. Hwackers rants go back years on this board. Also, you take your leap of logic and hop off a bridge ok? Because of Iraq, PLEASE!

The most careless spending President ever.
The President who attacked Iraq when Osama was in the Afghan/Pakistani tribal areas.
A popularity rating rivaling Jack Layton.

Gee, I think he is best President ever... for the Democratic Party & their recruiting and fundraising.

Why should I call him out on it? He THRIVES on attention, which I give him none. (I assume you are talking about Hwacker) If you want to pay heed to his rants, and somehow compare hwacker to Rush Limbaugh, then go right ahead, but the fact is, all it does is show your ignorance. Hwacker is our version of your kenmore, and I heed neither of them attention. I don't cheer him on at all. Stating that I do is nothing more than the fact that I ignore those who use petty insults and childish rants against those who disagree with them. This is the Internet, and not a formal debate, I do not have to pay heed or challenge any statements by anybody that I do not want to bother with. Unless, somehow, there's a new rule within these forums that I must condemn all statements I disagree with.

Why should normal Christians apologize for the Westboro Baptist Church, or why should you apologize for the comments of kenmore? I don't play these games that since one person labels himself as a whatever-winger, that all whatever-wingers should be condemned. If you truly believe that Rush Limbaugh is like hwacker, then I assume that you label all right wingers as hwacker or you haven't actually listened to Limbaugh them outside of a few out of context clips or quotes.

So Bush caused the Second Gulf War that cost a good number of lives. Therefore he's the worst President ever? If we're basing the ratings of Presidents on the fatalities of their wars, we might as well look at FDR, or Lincoln, or all the Presidents involved in Vietnam.

Internet Chatter, to continue your points. If we truly want to look at popularity ratings of the time the President was in office, we might as well have Lincoln be the worst President of all time.

I'll give you careless spending, but popularity ratings should, and do mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things. I don't see Bush being remembered of the likes of Lincoln, but at the same time, he isn't the worst President in American history. If you can really call Bush that, you probably haven't studied American history, and your political biases are blinding you.

Call me on it? I didn't know that calling your heroes names would hurt your feelings. If that’s the case I guess I should just go back to bed and cry for hours for all the bad names people call NEO CONs, Republicans and Conservatives.

Or maybe you should stop throwing stones in your glass house.

I'm just slightly let down the system won't let me give you a rep point for that one. Best thing to do about hwakcer is simply leave him to rant. You can't change his mind his convictions are too far set from reason. You should know better Scape.

well we could all get started on the topic of Bush and why he's a Bad president (note the use of bad and not worst). But the topic is talk radio.

Why does conservative talk radio continue to thrive in the age of the internet and blogs? What is it about the radio medium in our age that works for conservatives? I'll be honest I just don't get why it works so well.
