That is really how that non-issue should be addressed.

I just remembered two examples of "name politics."

Bob SHAMansky

Names that rhyme with negatives are also bad:

"Sherrod Brown let us down"

Frankly I kind of hope Obama will be elected and do a fantastic job if only to speed the healing of the racist biggotry in America. The sooner that the scar of racist stupidity is cured the sooner and easier it will be for America to bring the brightest and best to the forefront.

Sorry but frankly if anything pisses me off even more then all the far right and far left rethoric it's racism. And I'm damn happy to see a Black man even being considered as a major presidential candidate. It shows maturity in the American nation. Always a good thing.

Now if only we could improve the condition of the Indian people of Canada. Frankly the Northen Territories and the reserves are a big mess that's really no better off then most low income nations in terms of morale. It's really sad and frankly through residential schools, illness, the introduction of alchlohol and the system of reserves we are very very much responsbile just as much as our ancestors for their conditoins. It's about time we stood up and said screw that crap no one should live like this. :P

Then again that's just the liberal in me coming out. It doesn't come out as often but I can't stand oppression that's not based on rational and logical reasoning. :P

It won't matter what his middle name is he is a Christian. Secondly the Republicans cooked their goose when they voted Huckabby. It looks to me like McCain will take the next one in the New England region, and South Carolina could go to Huckabby but after that its Romney and Guliani as a result the Republicans will be fractured.
The Democrats will likely see Obama posting strong first or seconds for a number of primaries and Clinton will be beaten by Obama and Edwards teaming up before this is over and if that happens the end of the republicans is in sight.
I only hope they stay nationalistic as it will begin to break this World Trade Organization crap

That doesn't address his last name though. OBAMA--one measly letter away from OSAMA. Or his first name--BARACK--as in rhymes wiht Iraq. Listen, if this guy gets in he'll fly Air Force 1 into the nearest building.

You won't have to worry about that. All of the airplanes have reinforced cockpit doors. The worst thing he can do is spill his cocktail and launch the US strategic nuclear missile arsenal.

I would take issue with the cartoon's implication that McCain has been "stung" by Huckabee's victory. The latter's defeat of Romney is in fact a very good thing for McCain, since it hurts Romney in New Hampshire, where McCain is Romney's competition.

To a lesser extent, Romney's loss actually benefits all the other candidates, since Romney's game plan for getting the nomination was to win Iowa and New Hampshire and use that momentum to carry him through the rest. Thus, Giuliani and Thompson are probably at least somewhat happy that Huckabee won, too.

Speaking as a Republican, Obama's middle name doesn't matter at all.

Bush won his re-election. He's unpopular as an individual, but part of that is Republicans chiding him for not being right-wing enough on the environment, immigration, and a few other things. A similar Republican with better PR for his positions wouldn't obviously lose in '08, especially with things in Iraq looking up.

Which is ironic, given that my main objection to him is that he's much too right-wing on social issues--speech, religion, gay rights, basically anything the ACLU or Libertarian party would take exception to, plus the environment. Also, too authoritarian on anything he would excuse as "national security" issues--NSA wiretapping, Guantanamo Bay, etc. Invading Iraq is pretty major, too. Exactly how to get out is a whole separate issue and even I will concede that it's too late to just pretend this isn't happening, but I can still point at Bush as the one who got us in in the first place and I can still wish that he hadn't.

Unfortunately, as much as I want to say I can look for the best candidate from any origin and not just vote party lines, there really isn't anyone in current crop of Republicans who is far from Bush on most of those issues. In fact, the one thing I actually agree with Bush on--a slightly less xenophobic immigration policy--is one of the big ones over which he's taking heat among the rest of his party. Hearing any current contender accuse Bush of not being right-wing enough on any of those issues tells me I'm clearly looking at the wrong party and should go back to the Democrats this time.

Well, okay, there are a lot of issues with which I have very strong disagreements with the Democrats, but they're at least much closer than the Republicans to agreeing with me on the issues I consider the most important, and third parties are just a big waste of time, so....

He won't win, of course, but where he is making a showing at all that means he'll have a voice at the convention and the party will have to adopt some of his ideas. Most of which I'm very much in favor of - especially his ideas on immigration...

Well his reasoning for that I think is similar to what the late Milton Friedman said before. Since the United States has now become a welfare state it is now attracting people to be part of that and take advantage of it. Not like the people who came before to escape the state and wished to work. So it isn't right for Americans to have to pay for their system while people who skip the line and citizenship all together don't pay and use it. From talking to Americans that seems to be the biggest issue with them about illegal immigrants is that they are not paying their taxes. If the state was reduced though and taxes cut back dramatically the argument against illegal immigrants might not be much of one since they would have to pay for things themselves directly. There is still of course the matter of principals and breaking the law and those who do should be kicked out and not be rewarded for it as Ron Paul stated.

Personally I think you should use what you feel comfortable with. I've seen comics go from pencil to digital and sometimes it improves and sometimes you can really tell that the artist doesn't feel comfortable with it.

It would be like asking a painter to paint digitally unless they feel more comfortable with it they are likely to head back to the brush.

And here's the problem. The Republicans are far behind the Democrats already. The last Congressional election showed a major shift towards the Democrats. The shift was at the end of analyst's predictions, but it happened.

And another thing is that Bush ran on the EXACT same platforms most of these Republican canidates are running on. Please tell me how I am supposed to distinguish between honesty and decietfullness? I can't, and I am sure many independents can't either.

And the Republicans do not need to go further right here. You have most independents voting in the Democratic primary, not the Republican one. You have the Democratic candidates raising more money than the Republican canidates. Look at what's is happening here. The Republicans WILL NOT win if they aren't willing to elect a more moderate candidate.

I like the pencil version, but I have to admit that your graphic style seems to lend itself more to the hard edges of vector drawings.

I hope that Huckabee was an aberration, a sudden push for his support from local Evangelists who will fall behind by the end of the race - frankly I find the idea of the world's most powerful nation in the hands of a Southern Baptist Minister who believes in a literal interpretation of the Bible as frightening beyond belief.
