Heard of it, never done it.

Had a newfie night one night with the whole kissing the cod thing set up, though we couldn't get a cod, we got a mackeral.

As an Islander, I thought it was a damned foolish waste of energy to kiss a cod then drink a shot of rum, so having had a drink or two before hand, I poured my rum into the mackeral and then drank it!

Grossed out the newfies!

Been there. Done that! Capn Dick Stevensen @ the Waymarc Hotel in Dawson City. I'm member #10,035. Everyone who partakes is recorded in a ledger. I will have to hunt up my certificate & the little autographed booklet that he gave me.
I'm also the first (only?) person to have done so with NON-alcohol beer.
We were travelling up the Ak. Hiway for the 50th anniversary in 1992 & hooked up with some 'clubbers' who were also doing the ride. Myself, a hiker from Nz who was riding with us for a few days & one of the other riders took part that evening.
The rule is that you order & pay for your drink of choice, hand over $20 to Capn. Dick, and he takes the toe -# 8 I think- out of its little wooden coffin & He drops it into your drink. As you tip back your drink, he has to see that the toe actually touches your lips. I took the damn thing right into my mouth, rolled it around a few times then with a big foolish grin, held it in my teeth for all to see! What an interesting character he was/is. The stories abound.
