http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Entertainment ... ballerina/This is one of those WTF moments. The critic likely thinks she looks too much like a woman.....not his type. Quote: It was only one line in a newspaper article written more than two weeks ago. But comments by dance critic Alastair Macaulay that a New York City ballerina looked like she'd eaten "one sugarplum too many" has ruffled plenty of feathers.
Alastair Macaulay's comments were directed at ballerina Jenifer Ringer's performance as the Sugarplum Fairy in the holiday production of The Nutcracker Suite. He wrote: "Jenifer Ringer, as the Sugar Plum Fairy, looked as if she'd eaten one sugar plum too many; and Jared Angle, as the Cavalier, seems to have been sampling half the Sweet realm."

Hm, every proffesion needs something from worker, the basketball player must be high, a pilot have to think fast, a sniper must have a good eyes. So if because of her fatness she can't dance - that's problem, she lost her ability to that proffesion, if not - why not to be a good dancer). If she dances good, they have to left her with their critic.

It wasn't her performance he bitched about, it was her appearance.

So, she did a good job doing the performance but because she looks like a woman and not a skinny young boy this critic has issues with her? It's no wonder ballet has never held any interest for me, snobby bullshit.

You can understand what the critic is saying by her and her partners picture. Clearly they are way too huge to be ballet dancers. I mean, my God, they're like two friggin beached whales flopping on the sand. How in heavens name did the New York Ballet ever choose two fat, McDonalds eating, poutine loving, drinks 10-15 beers a day, dancers for their Christmas performance??????? Absolutely friggin shocking....
