Hospital staff must swear off Tylenol, Tums to get religious vaccine exemption

A hospital system in Arkansas is making it a bit more difficult for staff to receive a religious exemption from its COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The hospital is now requiring staff to also swear off extremely common medicines, such as Tylenol, Tums, and even Preparation H, to get the exemption.

The move was prompted when Conway Regional Health System noted an unusual uptick in vaccine exemption requests that cited the use of fetal cell lines in the development and testing of the vaccines.

"This was significantly disproportionate to what we've seen with the influenza vaccine," Matt Troup, president and CEO of Conway Regional Health System, told Becker's Hospital Review in an interview Wednesday.

"Thus," Troup went on, "we provided a religious attestation form for those individuals requesting a religious exemption," he said. The form includes a list of 30 commonly used medicines that "fall into the same category as the COVID-19 vaccine in their use of fetal cell lines," Conway Regional said.

The list includes Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, aspirin, Tums, Lipitor, Senokot, Motrin, ibuprofen, Maalox, Ex-Lax, Benadryl, Sudafed, albuterol, Preparation H, MMR vaccine, Claritin, Zoloft, Prilosec OTC, and azithromycin.

Conway Regional notes that the list includes commonly used and available drugs but that it is not an all-inclusive list of such medicines.

Employees are asked to attest that they "truthfully acknowledge and affirm that my sincerely held religious belief is consistent and true" and that they do not and will not use the medications and any others like them.

An Erin O’Toole-led pandemic plan would look like Alberta’s COVID crisis, Trudeau says

I can't stand him but on this he is right. The cons have as much of a plan on the environment as they do for Covid. They walk on eggshells terrified of their base and will only act when reality forces them to do so. By that time we could all be dead.

Roll your eyes all you like, the UCP's inept "leadership" has caused our health system to collapse. The Cons and the their ilk are the worst thing for Canada, I think my choice has now been made clear for Monday.

DrCaleb DrCaleb:
Thanos Thanos:
I remember the old days where the parents would be incredibly proud of having a comprehensive immunization record showing their kids were safe. Nowadays? I got back to the car at a store yesterday and some asshole had shoved a leaflet under the wiper with a cartoon of two kids wearing masks and a caption of "THIS IS CHILD ABUSE!". I completely lost my shit, shredded the damn paper to pieces, and started swearing & yelling, and if whoever had done it had been around they would have fucking gotten an earful from me.

On the heels of the terrible damage Trump deliberately caused, the anti-vaxxers/anti-maskers/anti-medicine types might have actually succeeding in collapsing what remained of civility in our wretched society during this epidemic. Even after COVID is done with I don't think any of these social ruptures that have been ripped wide open over the last year will ever be repaired. This is about as absolutist, us vs. them, as it can get. :|

The age of the internet has convinced some people that their uninformed opinion is equal to that of trained experts. That is what has led us to this point.

You also have to consider the rise of anti-intellectualism. Experts, scientists and intellectuals are considered "elites," so they either "out of touch" or have ulterior motives or part of a global kiddy-diddling conspiracy. This movement has been growing for over forty years. The internet just put it on steroids.

I'm pretty sure there's no mention of fetal cells in the bible.

We are BARLY holding on. The cracks were already there for all to see before COVID and the rural areas and in the interior we are whistling past a graveyard. We have been running full tilt for nearly 2 years now.

Exactly. If we could assist Alberta, or any other province or territory, we would but unfortunately we are all stretched to the limit and beyond.

Death of Hillsborough GOP member from COVID-19 causes financial problems for party

$1:
The Hillsborough County Republican Party alerted federal election regulators Tuesday that it may file its monthly campaign finance reports late because a key member of the organization died Saturday from COVID-19.

Prior to his death, Gregg Prentice developed and maintained software that electronically tracked donations to the Hillsborough County GOP and supplied data for the organization’s monthly finance reports. None of the other officers knew how to operate Prentice’s software, the party told the the Federal Elections Commission.

Totally. Our hospitals and doctors and nurses were understaffed and overburdened before the pandemic hit and now it’s twice as bad as it ever was. As much as we would like to help Alberta, we simply can’t.

Entire B.C. school district to go into lockdown after vaccine protesters enter 3 schools
$1:
A school district in B.C.’s southern Interior says all schools in its zone will be in lockdown mode on Monday, after COVID-19 vaccine protesters entered three schools on Friday and served a “notice of liability.”

School District 83, which covers the North Okanagan and Shuswap regions, said protesters entered Ranchero Elementary, South Canoe Elementary and the Sullivan campus of Salmon Arm Secondary seeking to speak to the respective principals.

The encounters were preceded by others on Wednesday and Thursday, a district spokesperson told Global News.

On Wednesday, approximately 15 people showed up at the school district office wanting to speak to the superintendent, the spokesperson said. Talks with them lasted around two hours.

On Thursday, demonstrators returned during a pop-up vaccination clinic. Police were called and eventually dispersed them.

Video of that incident shows a peaceful scene during rainy weather, with those gathered saying they wanted answers to their questions on children’s consent to get vaccinated.

The protesters served the board office and three principals with a vaccine notice of liability, the spokesperson said.

Later on Friday, the school district sent a letter to parents to say that as of Monday, all schools will be placed on lockdown. Outside doors will be locked, and those wishing to enter will have to phone ahead for an appointment.

“This means that students will not be able to leave and enter the building,” the letter said.

“If at some point you are needing to get into your child’s school, please contact the office and the administration team will be able to assist you.”

Tazer them. Tazer the piss right out of them.
