I saw my family doctor today because of some symptoms I've been having. He didn't like what he heard so I'm waiting to hear from the gastroenterologist to set up and appointment so he can stick a camera up my ass.

I'm too young for cancer 41, but you never know. I have to get that out of my mind because I'm sure the wait for the colonoscopy is going to be awhile. I won't be suprised if its months. I'm not telling my family just yet as I don't wont to worry them.

I've been reading up on the procedure. The part that's going to suck is not eating for 1-3 days to clear out my colon before the procedure. Just liquids and laxatives oh Joy !!! Not looking forward to that at all. Anyone else get one of these done ?

Had to tell someone. There feel better now.

Um...congrats? :?

I've had two done because of symptoms I have and I'm only 36. For me the part that sucked the most was the not eating and the stuff you have to drink to clean you out.

It always made me very sick and I couldn't work from the point that I took that stuff. The first time I could hardly drink it all down. This last time (about a month ago) it was a lot better tasting. The end results were still the same.

I hope things go well for you!

I've had a lower gastrointestinal series done where I had to clean out my tubes but I've never had a camera up there. Also had a barium swallow... don't ask. 8O

Good luck.

I had one done about 10 years ago (mind you, in The Netherlands), at age 29. I had to drink 2 liters of that shit-shit in 2 hours or something, the night prior. It was vanilla flavour, and I have not touched ANYTHING remotely tasting like vanilla since

I also got a shot of valium when I went in, but my mom didn't a few years later. That shot was a real help tho...

Hope 1. That it turns out to be nothing to worry about, and 2. that it goes smoothly.
My wife had one a few years back as well, not pleasant, but as everyone says the worst is the not eating and the crap they have you drink.

Congrats!! [B-o] [B-o]

Word of advise, don't take the stuff they give you to make you go poop at the same time you take the stuff they give you to clean out your stomach. There's nothing worse than not knowing which end to stick in the toilet bowl. (Mind you I don't think they do that any more).

It's not overly pleasant but oddly enough you'll feel like a million bucks after it's all done.

Hope you do well and I hope they don't find anything that causes concern.

Thanks for the support peeps. [B-o]

It's good to see a few of you have had or know of people who have had the same thing done and your all still around.

It's definitely not pleasant, but giving birth is WAY worse ;-)

I hope they find nothing you should worry about and that it is just IBS (irritable bowel syndrome, which is not great, but nothing to worry about :P)

Bodah, good for you putting your health first. [B-o]

That said, it's an odd experience to have someone stick something up yonder, inflate your guts with air, and then have a look around.

My experience after the procedure was moderately unpleasant until I was able to fart out all the air they'd pumped into me. I felt fine after that. I also got a clean bill of health so it was worth it.

Goodness. More people on this forum have had foreign objects shoved up their rectums then your average patron at the Tool Box night club. 8O

In my case the doctor found out something I'm sure you'd agree with: I'm a perfect a**hole.
