Sweden has lost star forward Gabriel Landeskog to a high ankle sprain, and the 18-year old is a longshot to play again in this year's World Junior Championship.

Landeskog, who is captain of the OHL's Kitchener Rangers, hurt his ankle in his last OHL game against the Guelph Storm and the injury got progressively worse while he has been with Team Sweden. He is officially listed as day-to-day by Team Sweden.

Landeskog is having a superb year for Kitchener with 25 goals and 20 assists in 32 games. He is projected by many to be a top-five pick in next year's NHL Draft.

Landeskog lost

Tough break for Sweden. Could be good for us.
In a way its good for us...but we have our own problem.

Canadian forward Jaden Schwartz will miss the rest of the World Junior Championship with a fractured ankle. The injury was suffered during Canada's second game of the tournament on Tuesday, a 7-2 victory over the Czech Republic.

I'm looking forward to the Sweden game. Wish it was on at prime time, though. Will have to content myself with the Raptors and probably some American college football tomorrow evening.

First, yes.

Second, no.

Very flat second, we need a big finish.

Those young Sweds think they've won something, well I guess they won a day off.

To bad they suck the big one in games that count. :P

Better goaltending is required or this tourney is over for Canada.

Yeah, we might get past the Swiss with mediocore goaltending but we'll be dead meat in the next game unless they pick it up.
