That blows. Lose one game, outscore every other team in the tourney and get screwed out of the gold medal game. :|
How the fuck does that work?

Argh. Haven't been keeping track of this, sad to see. Go Sweden, then.

No, it's still GO CANADA, only for the Bronze medal game against Finland. The game will be at 3:00pm ET on Thursday. Sweden will play Russia at 8:00pm ET Thursday for the Gold.

Fair enough.

I'm proud of our team.

They didn't quit.

One hell of a game to be a fan at though, probably the only game that was actually worth the ticket price.

there were times when i wasn't sure if i was watching hockey or soccer; the ice was littered with prima donas.

somebody needs to remind all these kids how lucky they are to be playing in this sort of a tournament, and to knock off all the movie star bullshit. the level of arrogance and ego was goddam embarrassing!

 ... The word everyone needs to remember about these players is "kids". They are still teenagers and everything to do with young people at this age is to extremes. Cut them some slack.

no way. when you are a free-ride country rep, you act proper. all this diving around and poor sportsmanship horseshit wouldn't have flown back in the day. ..and that goes for all of the teams.. kids or not, i expect better from young men representing an entire nation.

..how is it that past tournaments went off with a much higher degree of class and respect, if all we can expect from youngsters is 'extreme' behaviour?

Yeah, congratulations to Sweden for winning the Gold, Russia for the Silver and sadly Canada for the Bronze. Although Team Canada did keep the medal streak going at 14 years. All things said, it was once again a great competition, showing some of the best up and coming players we are going to be seeing for years to come. Canada played a great series, unfortunately losing the 1 game to Russia which came so very, very close to being the greatest comeback in the IIHF juniors history. The Gold medal game was stunning with Russia being outshot something like 58-17 and still managing to stay in the game, finally losing in OT. Next year the Russians will have the home ice advantage with the series being played in Ufa, Russia.

That was a great tournament.

As usual, the World Juniors don't disappoint. There was great hockey played, exciting finishes, extreme lows and highs for all teams.

I say it again, this tournament is the best hockey of the entire year.....
