Okay, the playoffs are on and I'm assuming nearly all hockey fans have a comment or four they'd like to make about ......whatever, so here's the place to do it.

The Sens lost 4-2 earlier today, a lousy final score, but they did battle back from 4-0.

Boston and Washington went to OT with Boston winning it 1-0

San Jose and St Louis are tied at 2 in OT

Chicago leads Phoenix 1-0 after 1

Chicago manages to tie Phoenix 2-2 late in the game, going to OT

Alot of bad calls all across the board but what I'm amazed at is that Bitz got 2 games and Webber got a fine.

Now don't get me wrong Bitz is a fekin moron who helped the Canucks lose by his undisciplined and dangerous play but, Webber went WWE on Zetteburg, elbowing him in the head and driving his face into the boards and got nothing for it.

$1:
"We felt this was a reckless and reactionary play on which Weber threw a glancing punch and then shoved Zetterberg's head into the glass," said Shanahan.

I'm pretty sure that depite the NHL's claim that they'd be enforcing the rules just like the regular season the league is still trying to sell hockey in the southern states and Webbers ridiculous fine is proof of that.

$1:
But in handing the Predators captain the maximum US$2,500 fine, NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said it will affect how he handles "any incidents involving Shea Weber throughout the remainder of the playoffs."

With statements like that it's pretty apparent that Shanahan is following the party line and not doing the job he was hired to do, or maybe he is doing the job he was hired to do?

So standby for more bad calls and suspensions only given to teams that aren't in a weak hockey market or one of Buttmans experimental new hockey cities.

I guess the announcers were okay with Zetteburgs slash just above Webers knee.

No slash and Weber wouldn't have roughed him up. This is what annoys me about hockey today, tons of stickwork that is allowed but penalties for retaliating against the initial foul.

I like the way the playoffs are going so far.

3 more wins for LA and NYR and I'll be even better!

I'd like to see LA get the sweep but I would prefer Ottawa for the upset as it would be an easier series for the Bruins when the get rid of Ovie and company. 8)

The officiating for the first two nights by refs and linesmen alike has been dreadful. Goals scored despite the play being WAY offside. Goals scored with too many men on the ice. Obvious penalties being "missed" and some pretty cheap ones called.

FOG: I've been hesitating to post this lest someone call me conspiracy theorist but, I think you're pretty close to the mark. Let's say both Vancouver and Ottawa get knocked out this first round, it's not really going to affect Canadian viewership for the rest of the playoffs. But a lot of US markets with hockey teams also have basketball going on and the baseball season just started. So if their teams are knocked out of the playoffs, US viewership suffers because many of them will switch to basketball or baseball. And in many US markets, hockey also has to compete with NCAA teams, and NCAA is HUGE down there.

Let's face it, Rattman is primarily a marketer and after all these years still knows little about the sport. Look at the goof next time they show him attending a game, he couldn't look more bored.

Weber got off extremely lightly. Should have received at least 1 game suspension.

Should Zetteburg also get a game for his slash?

Why should he, it wasn't even called a penalty, remember this is the playoffs not the regular season.

Good game in Nashville. The Preds made it interesting.

Gotta love the Nashville fans though. In a market that very few thought would be viable, the people there have fallen in love with hockey and their team. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a group of fans who enjoy their time at the arena like Pred fans........ PDT_Armataz_01_34
