Its officially an upper body, long term injury . Not part of the game plan.

At least Hall has been on fire. And if Drai keeps going same way he has the team might be alright.

I agree, they seemed to be close to being in a happy place and poised to make a bit of a move when Eberle came back.

They said last night that he could be back by Friday (hope they aren't rushing him back) might not make the move but hopefully keep hanging in there and not have the season over by the time McDavid comes back.

Eberle goes back on the first line and Drisital moves down to centre the second line, things could be a lot worst. To bad Oiler fans are left wondering what could have been.

Yes, that's bad news. I can't imagine how bad he feels right now.

On the bright side:

Another #1 pick in the 2016 draft?

As much as I would enjoy watching the rest of the league collectively shit their pants I don't really see it happening. Even with Mcdavid gone this is still a better team than last year. The goal tending alone is worth a few points.

I agree. Aside from that major error against Calgary, Talbot has been solid. He has to maintain focus though.

I see a lot of positives on the team but I don't get the Taylor Hall thing. He disappears and then shows up on the score sheet. Maybe he'll win me over but I still think he isn't even close to Seguin as a player and I would not offer up RNH as trade bait to sure up the D over offering up Hall. He seems lazy to me. Admittedly, it's early and I have only been able to watch a limited amount but during that Calgary game, there was a lot of calm and not much breathing hard on the bench.

If you aren't trying to catch your breath on the bench then you aren't trying. I see Hall way too often just hanging out like he's at the mall on a bench people watching.

Jordan Eberle to make season debut Friday versus Pittsburgh Penguins.

While the Edmonton Oilers suffered a blow Wednesday in the form of Connor McDavid hitting the shelf for the foreseeable future, the club received a boost in the right direction Thursday.

Forward Jordan Eberle is expected to make his 2015-16 debut Friday versus the Pittsburgh Penguins, Oilers head coach Todd McLellan announced.

Eberle missed the Oilers first 13 games of the season after he sustained a shoulder injury in training camp on September 29.

The 25-year-old will skate on a line with Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl.

Fun game tonight. Still lots of problems with this team, but they've got a lot more battle in them than we've seen for years.
