I am commenting because in a free society, we can't be fired from a job because of a statement we made or ideas we hold. We can be if we are convicted of some crime. Nothing else.

This doesn't seem to give the employer a lot of freedom. I know that if I found one of my employees dancing on top of a burning cop car, I'd have to reevaluate his employment.
Dan, Dan, Dan, this is what you get when you skip class. No where have I said that an employer should not be able to fire an employee who has participated in a clearly illegal activity. I said that it is not illegal to give an opinion on the subject of the Vancouver Riot of 2011. Understand?

It may not be illegal, but someone being fired for submitting their distasteful opinion for public consumption while advertising their employer is hardly something new.

Yep. Seems lately all sorts of people are getting fired for posting their opinions of their employers on Facebook and etc.

It amazes me that in this day and age that people still think things they post online are going to be private.

Or that they have no expectation to be held accountable for it.

And why not give them some public shaming? After all, their offences were committed in public, against the public's peace and right to enjoy a peaceful, crime free celebration.

I think the real stocks would have been way more fun than, gasp, saying that they were bad on FaceBook.....
