As one who saw for too many years the defense-uber-alles attitude under the Sutters when they ran the Flames, I can tell you what a major bummer it's going to be for the Habs and their fans if Therrien goes into training camp with a bunch of we-gotta-tighten-up-the-D nonsense. They need at least two more scorers on that team because there's no way that Pacioretty and anyone assigned to his line can be expected to do it all themselves. This isn't the first time an opponent like Tampa has figured out in the playoffs how to breach the alleged invulnerable defense of the best defensive team in the regular season and it won't be the last time either.

I feel sorry for the Habs because those kinds of scoring outbursts that they can't hope to match just shouldn't be happening, especially not in the playoffs. Maybe Guy Lafleur is up for volunteering so they can clone him at least three times just to put someone who can score on the other offensive lines. :?

They gave it a good try, but unfortunately not good enough. I think I'll cheer on the Rangers now. Just for the sake of Vigneault.

Can't score, can't win.

Can't win, can't advance.

I agree 100%, they need at least 2 slightly goonish big guys who can score big time goals.

Rick Nash
Vlado Tarasenko
Patrick Kane
Ryan Getzlaf

Something like those.

I love watching Brendan Gallagher, but the fact is he is too small for the NHL.
Maybe it's time to trade Markov or PK for some real offense; Deharnais as well.

*sigh*

Another year down the drain. Life was better when I was a kid.

Anaheim will win the Cup.

Glad to see the Habs out, now maybe we can watch games on CBC without the announcers absolute bias towards the Habs. It was obvious from the Ottawa series that the CBC crew had "their" favourite team.

Game 7 tonight Rangers-Capitals should be insane. 8O

Exactly.

I just don't get what's with the Hab's management. If they took a look back into their own history they'd discover that when the Flyers were in their prime winning cups they were goons who could score, the Hab's the went out, got bigger stronger and meaner in order to compete with them which led to 4 cups in a row.

Well, the same thing applies now. Small fast and defensive isn't a winning combination in the playoffs anymore and hasn't been since the early 70's. If they don't wake up and bring in some of the types you mentioned this scenario will continue to repeat itself year after year after year and the only reason they've gotten this far is the fact that Carey Price is likely the best Goaltender in the NHL.

Anaheim is looking pretty good.. That said, I think I've yet to pick a winner in a close series this year.

Rangers in 5.
Ducks in 6.

I think Tampa will be spent. Overcoming the Montreal series was their conquest for the year.
