Is this a question of whether the NHLPA should let its players compete in the Olympics? If so why the hell not? If the Germans can stack their biathlon teams with Gerbigsjagers  and clean house why can't we with hockey?

I know the NHL owners are against their million dollar players from playing in the olympics. Imagine Crosby out for the season and him still getting paid. Getting hurt in an NHL game is one thing but letting a chance at the cup go down the drain cause he got hurt in the olympics well it is understandable why the owners are against it. If a player gets hurt in the olympics is no skin off the olympics nose.

No skin off the owners wallet either if they're hurt. The players are insured against injury if hurt in the Olympics. The only thing they will miss is the service of the player.......which if they're out of the running will save them money.

and a run at the cup depending who has been hurt like maybe a Crosby or Alfi then as an owner I would be very upset insured or not because the real money is in the playoffs and the Stanley Cup series.

In 18 games Alfi has 15 points which 7 of them are on the PP, is a -5 this year and throws a hit every 2nd or 3rd game. That won't get you close to the cup.

The Olympics are much better now that all the teams have pros playing, instead of just those using 'Army' teams, which really were pros in everything but name.

And it's just not for teams like Canada, Russia, etc. It also means that lower tier teams like Germany, Switzerland, Belarus, etc can field a team that has something of a chance against the big hockey nations, which makes the whole tournament better IMHO.

Until the IOC learns to share, the NHL should just tell them to "fuck off".

You know what the gayest, cheesiest goddamn thing in the NHL is?

Way to ruin a quirky sports tradition.
