Image.....Tanev scores the winner.....from zeros to heroes.....Image

Still too many poor passes and giveaways, especially in their own zone.

Next game is Thursday in Minnesota.

Tanev lights the lamp in wild Canucks comeback

Quote:
Jannik Hansen and Kevin Bieksa scored their first goals of the season, but it was Chris Tanev whole stole the show Monday night in Edmonton scoring his first career goal, an overtime winner no less, as the Vancouver Canucks erased a 2-0 deficit to beat the Oilers 3-2.

With 20 seconds left in overtime, Daniel and Henrik Sedin played give-and-go, the puck worked its way out to Tanev at the point and his one-timer was not to be denied beating Devan Dubnyk before he was joyously attacked by teammates.

The Oilers held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes before the teams traded goals in the second period; Hansen’s first goal, assisted by Jordan Schroeder and Chris Higgins, made is 2-1 heading to the third.

Keeping things dramatic, the Canucks didn’t tie the game up until 2:17 remained on the clock when Bieksa snapped home his first goal and point of the season, from Hansen and Mason Raymond.

In overtime a Roberto Luongo penalty shot save on Taylor Hall opened the door for Tanev to score the first of many career goals.

Luongo finished with 23 saves backing the Canucks to their third straight win.

A great way to score your first NHL goal, while he has scored in the preseason this was his first of hopefully many NHL career goals.....way to go Chris.......it saved us all from the dreaded shootout..... [B-o]

Vancouver at Minnesota

The Canucks (5-2-2) will turn to Cory Schneider to help them sweep their two-game road trip tonight when they battle the Zach Parise and the new-look Wild (4-4-1).

The Canucks are looking to extend their win streak to a season-high four straight games. They are also looking to win consecutive games on the road for the first time this season. The Canucks won four of the six head-to-head meetings against the Wild in last year's season series but they lost two of the three games they played at the Xcel Energy Center and were out-scored by a combined 9-6 score there.

Cory Schneider will pick up his fifth start of the season tonight. He hasn't seen any game action since two Sundays ago in a 4-1 road loss to the Sharks.

Jordan Schroeder, a native of Prior Lake, Minnesota, will play at the Xcel Energy Center for the first time as an NHLer tonight although he's had plenty of experience playing there in the past while with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Tonight's game faces off at 5 pm PT and can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific.

I don't know about that, aside from a few shifts in the 2nd this was probably the best game for the team as a whole this season, They still have some work to do on their special teams, but it seems they are starting to come together as a team now. We'll see what happens when Calgary shows up Saturday night.

Mostly the Wilds fault, they just play dull.
