Vancouver vs Edmonton

Less than 24 hours after turning in a dismal opening night performance against the Ducks, the Canucks (0-1-0) will look for a bounce back effort tonight when they welcome the high-flying Oilers (0-0-0) to Rogers Arena.

The Canucks are looking to avoid losing consecutive games to open a season since they dropped three in a row to back in 2009.10. The seven goals the Canucks surrendered last night is the most they've given up in a single game since Game 3 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final – an 8-1 loss to the Bruins. The most they gave up in a single game last year was six goals.

The Canucks won four of the six meetings (4-2-0) in the season series against the Oilers last year, including all three games played at Rogers Arena. Alex Burrows led all players in the season series with eight points (3-5-8) versus Edmonton last year. He recorded at least one point in all six of the head-to-head meetings against the Oilers.

Tonight's game faces off at 6 pm PT and can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific.

I heard they had a few 'Nuck fans choke themselves with the free scarves. Sounds like they are following their team real close this year!!!

Ready for a 0 - 2 start to the season?

edited for spelling

Vancouver vs Calgary

A pair of winless teams will try to pick up their respective first victories of the season at the other's expense tonight when the Canucks (0-1-1) play host to the Flames (0-2-0) in a Northwest Division clash at Rogers Arena.

The Canucks are looking to avoid their worst start since the 2009.10 season when they stumbled to a 0-3 start. It took that team until their 11th game before they finally managed to climb above .500.

The Canucks and Flames split their 2011.12 season series with each team winning three times. Two of Vancouver's three wins came at Rogers Arena.

Canucks G Cory Schneider gets back between the pipes tonight after being yanked on opening night. He has a career record of 1-2-0 against the Flames with a 2.65 GAA and .916 save percentage.

Tonight's game faces off at 7 pm PT and can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific.

The bums finally managed to make it into the win column and .500 for the season so far, even if they once again blew a 2-0 lead, it did take them 5 rounds into the shootout to get the W....

Next game on Friday is a rematch against the Ducks, this time in Ahaheim.

As that would be far more than preferable to a Ranger or Bruin win of the cup, me thinks that would have only been possible if the lockout lasted the entire season.
