5-0 Canucks vs Anaheim in the Ducks' home opener, the guys, especially Schneider who was pulled after giving up 5 goals to the Ducks in our home opener last Saturday (7-3 loss) totally redeemed themselves tonight. This was undoubtedly the Canucks best game of the short season so far with the guys finally playing as a team dedicated to winning. The power play has now started to click, while they didn't have much to do on the PK as most penalties were offsetting and the Canucks didn't take any really stupid penalties, aside from Burrows taking a roughing call in the 2nd period in retaliation for an earlier hit. Schneider looked sharp and totally focused tonight earning his 5th career shutout and just maybe earning the start in goal on Sunday. Zack Kassian scored his 3rd goal of the season, if he keeps going at this pace all the whining about the Canucks' poor choice in trading him for Cody Hodgson will be at last put to rest......Image

Next game is Sunday in San Jose.

Vancouver at San Jose

After being the first team to hand the Ducks a loss this season on Friday, the Canucks (2-1-1) will look to do the same tonight to the red hot Sharks (4-0-0) at the HP Pavilion at San Jose.

The Canucks earned at least one point in all four meetings against the Sharks last season (3-0-1), including winning both games played in San Jose by identical 3-2 scores. The Canucks have not lost a regulation game to the Sharks in two consecutive seasons amassing a 6-0-2 record against San Jose in their last eight outings there.

The Canucks don't expect to make any lineup changes tonight despite the fact F Maxim Lapierre missed practice yesterday. F Manny Malhotra is also back with the team following the birth of his son on Thursday in Vancouver.

The expected goaltending match-up will see Cory Schneider go up against Antti Niemi. Schneider has a 3-1-0 career record against the Sharks with a 4.10 GAA and .922 save percentage. Niemi has a 3-6-0 career record versus Vancouver with a 3.13 GAA and .901 save percentage with one shutout.

Tonight's game faces off at 5 pm PT and can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific.

The game started with double unsportsmanlike conduct penalties before the puck was even dropped, kind of a preview of the game to come. Down 2-0 on two giveaways by our D men and a shot off the pipes by Hansen in the first 5 minutes was all it really took to call game over for the Canucks. Hopefully they'll manage to pull their game back together to make it through their 3rd game in 4 days when they play in LA tomorrow night.

Vancouver at Los Angeles

The Vancouver Canucks (2-2-1) close out their three-game California road trip tonight hoping to bounce back from a tough loss yesterday against the Sharks when they visit the Staples Center to do battle with the defending Stanley Cup champions, Los Angeles Kings (1-2-1).

Tonight's game faces off at 7:30 pm PT and can be seen coast-to-coast in Canada on TSN.

Another SO loss..... Only 6 games into the season and the Canucks have already had 3 of their games go to shootouts and only have a 1-2 record. It's again obvious the team still hasn't got the "go for the kill" attitude to put the game away early. Sure it was their 3rd game in four days but this has been an ongoing problem with the team for years, they just don't have the killer attitude needed.

Next game is Wednesday when Colorado comes to town.

May I suggest another team that wears the green and blue. They seem to have the killer instinct and I think could use the support of an avid hockey guy like yourself.... :P
