The Canucks equal their season's best record with their 2nd win in a row, defeating the Duck 3-2 in Anaheim! They now have a chance to finally win 3 in a row for the first time this season when they play the LA Kings in Vancouver on Monday.

Vancouver vs Los Angeles

79

The Canucks look for a season-high third straight win tonight when they return to Rogers Arena to host the Los Angeles Kings.

It may be too little too late to salvage this season but you can bet that getting over the hurdle that is the elusive three-game win streak would mean a lot to the players in the Canucks' locker room. Doing so against a Stanley Cup-contending like the Kings, not to mention doing so with an injury-depleted line-up, would make the accomplishment all the sweeter. The Canucks have put themselves in this position after sweeping their two-game California road trip, capped off with an unlikely 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Ducks on Friday.

Based on practice lines yesterday it appears the Canucks will welcome Jake Virtanen and Derek Dorsett back into the line-up tonight, the former returning after serving a two-game suspension and the latter potentially coming back following a four-game injury absence. Their respective returns, however, will likely come at the expense of Chris Higgins and Linden Vey, both of whom were injured in the victory over the Ducks. Coach Desjardins did hint, however, that one of Higgins, Vey or Sven Baertschi could possibly be healthy enough to play tonight.

For the first time in the 2015-2016 season the Canucks win 3 games in a row!!!......Image

From a low of losing a franchise tying 9 games in a row they come back with 3 wins in a row...

Next game comes Wednesday with a trip to Edmonton, followed by a game in Calgary on Thursday, then the season's last game on Saturday with Edmonton in town.

Sweet, longest Winning Streak of the Season. Too little way too late, but it's nice they haven't thrown in the towel.

Did that Canadian goaltender get some sort of first star? She should have. She was great. I got mad and changed the channel when the Americans scored.

The referee should have got first star for the Americans.

Well you had to know the next penalty was going to Canada after 2 straight PP. I was more pissed off at how shitty a goal it was. Another great game between the 2 country's.

Vancouver at Edmonton

80

The Canucks begin their final road trip of the season tonight when they battle the Edmonton Oilers in the final NHL game ever at Rexall Place.

There are those who would suggest the Canucks' active three-game win streak - their longest of the season - couldn't have come at a worst time with the playoffs already out of the equation. Although there is some merit to the idea of trying to get the best possible odds for a higher pick at the upcoming NHL Draft, one only has to look at tonight's opponent to see why that plan is hardly foolproof. The Oilers will miss the playoffs for a tenth consecutive season despite having the benefit of selecting first overall in four of the last six NHL Drafts. Thankfully the Oilers faithful will have something to celebrate tonight – although hopefully not a victory - thanks to the pomp and circumstance that accompanies the end of an era in a building that has seen many great moments for the home team in its 42-year history albeit very few over the last decade.

Based on yesterday's practice, don't expect much in the way of line-up changes for Vancouver as the Canucks continue to be without forwards Sven Baertschi, Linden Vey, and Chris Higgins. Although the Oilers can no longer catch the Canucks in the overall standings, they could still clinch the season series with in a win tonight.
