Here we go again, the Canucks came into the 3rd period up 2-0 and having held Detroit to 11 shots in the first 2 periods. Detroit have now scored 2 goals, one on the PP, in less than 2 1/2 minutes, and have had 10 shots on goal, all in the first half of the 3rd period.....

I don't fucking believe this, this 0-2-3 record at home must be the worst start in Canucks history. The scary thing is that this isn't over yet, not by a long shot!! The Canucks don't play again until Tuesday, when they close out their home stand by hosting the undefeated Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens record is 9-0-0, all nine of their victories coming in regulation time. The Canadiens are one win short of the NHL record for the longest winning streak to start a season, a mark set by the 1993-94 Maple Leafs and matched by 2006-07 Sabres, both teams had to go to OT or the SO to win the 10 games. Montreal can tie this record with a victory over the Canucks on Tuesday.....

It's not great that's for sure. Especially against Detroit who are playing rather poorly these days. Still, there's a lot of season to go....

Yes, that was a disappointing 3rd period. One point is better than none I guess.

On a side-note... that's a very impressive start of the season for Montreal.

Vancouver vs Montreal
9

The Canucks close out their five-game home stand tonight hoping to salvage at least one victory when they host the red hot Montreal Canadiens.

There are no flying DeLoreans or flux capacitors involved but, just as Doc Brown and Marty McFly did last Wednesday when they arrived from 1985, the Canucks look to change the course of history tonight. History, after all, is what the Habs would make if they emerge from Rogers Arena with a victory as they would tie the NHL record for longest win streak to start a season at 10. If the Canucks really did have a time machine, however, they'd loved to go back to Saturday night and prevent themselves from suffering a fourth straight home loss after squandering a two-goal third period lead to fall 3-2 in overtime to Detroit.

Despite the disappointing loss on Saturday, the Canucks are expected to dress the same line-up in tonight's game making just a minor tweak up front by moving Virtanen to play with Sutter and Burrows, and shifting Hansen onto a line with Baertschi and Horvat. Ryan Miller, who was with the Sabres back in 2006.07 when they began the season going 10-0, is expected to start for in net Vancouver tonight despite missing practice yesterday. He will go up against BC-boy Carey Price at the other end. Tonight marks Brandon Prust's first game against the Habs since being dealt to Vancouver back on July 1.
