What N Dog said earlier, and as much as it pains me to say it. Now is not the time for winning. We’ve had another wash of a season. Time to play people from the farm team and hope for a rare good pick in the draft lottery.

Adam Gaudette signed a 3 year ELC with Vancouver today.

This explains how the deal works:

https://canucksarmy.com/2018/03/26/canu ... -contract/

This podcast offers an opinion on what to expect from him:

https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040 ... -1.1038583

(Oh...and Thanos - at 6:20 of that podcast Craig Button starts talking Calgary's problems. He's forecasting the coach is the first to go and soon.)

Anaheim at Vancouver

77

DUCKS (39-24-13) at CANUCKS (27-40-9)

The Anaheim Ducks can increase their hold on third place in the Pacific Division when they play the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Tuesday.

Anaheim, which is 5-0-1 in its past six games, is tied with the Los Angeles Kings in points, but holds the tiebreaker having played one fewer game.

Anaheim forward Troy Terry will make his NHL debut one day after signing a three-year, entry-level contract. The 20-year-old had 48 points (14 goals, 34 assists) in 39 games at the University of Denver this season, and five assists in five games for the United States men's ice hockey team at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.

Vancouver, which has been eliminated from playoff contention, has won two of its past three games after losing seven straight.

Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf has six points (one goal, five assists) during a four-game point streak.

Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler has three goals and an assist in his past five games.

Gibson is expected to make his eighth straight start. … Green said Tanev, who was injured against the St. Louis Blues on Friday, will miss the remainder of the regular season.

Gibson is 11-2-1 with three shutouts and a .936 save percentage in his past 14 games. ... The Ducks are 12-4-2 in their past 18 games and a win would set a team record with five consecutive 40-win seasons. They won at least 40 games for four consecutive seasons from 2005-09. … Gagner has one goal and three assists in his past five games.

Anaheim had the lone goal of the 2nd period at 17:06, their only score of the game. Biega scored his 1st of the year at 3:03 of the 3rd, assists to Archibald and Sutter who then went on to score himself at 8:30, his 9th, unassisted. Anaheim then pulled their goalie with 3 minutes left to play, followed by a penalty to Sutter. Vancouver then killed off the 2 minutes of 6 on 4, when Sutter exited the penalty box he scored into the empty net at 19:44, his 10th, unassisted. The Canucks held the Ducks to only 6 shots in the 3rd period despite the 2 minutes of 6 on 4 and outshot them overall 30-24 while keeping them off the scoreboard on their 2 PPs, the Canucks were 0/1 on their lone PP. Edmonton at Vancouver

78

OILERS (34-37-6) at CANUCKS (28-40-9)

Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid will try to solidify his lead for the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's top scorer when the Oilers play the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Thursday.

McDavid scored his 40th goal of the season and had two assists in the Oilers' 7-3 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, and his 102 points are the most in the NHL, six points ahead of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, who has 96 (38 goals, 58 assists).

McDavid, who led the League in scoring with 100 points (30 goals, 70 assists) last season, became the seventh player in NHL history to have multiple 100-point seasons before his 22nd birthday; he joined Wayne Gretzky (four), Dale Hawerchuk (three), Mario Lemieux (three), Sidney Crosby (three), Jimmy Carson (two) and Joe Sakic (two).

The Oilers, 3-1-1 in their past five games and 7-3-2 in their past 12, were eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention Thursday.

Forward Adam Gaudette is expected to make his NHL debut for the Canucks, who are 3-1-0 in their past four games after a seven-game losing streak and were eliminated from playoff contention on March 14. Gaudette, who signed with Vancouver on Monday, led the NCAA in goals (30) and points (60) in 38 games for Northeastern University this season. He is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the best player in NCAA hockey.

McDavid has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in a five-game point streak, and 36 points (17 goals, 19 assists) in his past 20 games.

Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom is 3-0-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and.958 save percentage in his past three starts.

Nugent-Hopkins has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in his past 10 games on a line with McDavid. … Gagner has five points (two goals, three assists) in his past six games.

Yeah, the Canucks have put together 3 wins in a row, something they haven't done since the beginning of December! They have also allowed only 1 goal in each of the 3 games, against Edmonton it was a goal by none other than Connor McDavid, his 41st of the season, at 11:33 of the first period. In the 2nd, Gagner scored his 10th at 15:14, assisted by both Sedins. In the 3rd, Pouliot scored his 3rd at 2:00, assists to Goldobin and Jokinen. The Oilers outshot the Canucks 36-30 and were held to 0/2 on the PP while the Canucks went 0/1. Saturday has the Canucks playing an afternoon game against Columbus, game time is 1:00pm PT. The Canucks have only won 4 straight games once this season and not since late October.

4-2 Vancouver. 3 minutes left to play.

Oh well...on the hopes for the juicy draft pick but whatever, it's still looking hopeful for the future.

Demko, Gaudette, Sautner looking good. Virtanen starting to show what he was drafted for. One might even cross one's fingers for Goldobin. Even Archibald fills a niche. What we've seen of the future is not looking bad at all so far and we haven't even seen all the best ones coming up.

Demko looking like he's ready to at least backup in the NHL next year. Wonder if we can get a pick for Nilsson at the draft.
