Missed it.

They're pre-tournament until the 17th, right?

Canada plays tomorrow, I think.

A lot of people are upset, because of the screwy way Bettman set it up. The young stars won't play for Team Canada. No McDavid. He's on some team they're calling North America and they'll play Team Europe which, I think is smaller European countries like Latvia.

Something like that, anyway.

If it wasn't for team NA most of those young guys would be at there teams training camps. It adds a whole new angle, I like it, they might surprise a lot of people.

A day after team NA took it to Team Europe 4 -0, Canada and the US renew acquaintances.

World Cup of Hockey Pre-Tournament: Canada vs USA 5:00PM MDT.

Team USA talks of 'inflicting' on Canada in tuneup game

All week, John Tortorella hasn’t come close to straying off the same train of thought.

“Through the picking of the team, right on through up until today, that has been the whole mantra, inflicting, not being inflicted upon,” the head coach of Team USA said Friday. “To me, you can’t play aggressive, you can’t play straight-ahead, unless you get into that mindset.”

Team Canada has been catching wind of the style the Americans plan to use in the World Cup of Hockey, and on Friday night at Nationwide Arena, will find out what its hockey rivals have in store.

The Canadians, heading into the first exhibition game for both nations, are the favourites to win the World Cup, which commences Sept. 17 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

“I don’t know what inflict means,” Team Canada defenceman Drew Doughty said, “but we will take the same approach against the U.S. as we would any other team."

This game is intense. Hard to believe it's pre-tournament.

End of the second it's 3-1 America, but the score doesn't really tell the story.

Sidney Crosby scratched for Team Canada

Quote:
OTTAWA -- Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby will not play Saturday against Team USA in a World Cup of Hockey 2016 pretournament game at Canadian Tire Centre (7 p.m. ET; ESPN3, SN, TVA Sports).

Corey Perry will take Crosby's place. Crosby played center on a line with Brad Marchand on left wing and Patrice Bergeron on right wing in a 4-2 loss to Team USA in Columbus on Friday.

Bergeron will move to center with Marchand and Perry at wing, Team Canada coach Mike Babcock said.

Crosby has involved in some pushing and shoving during a scrum Friday.

"We knew [Crosby] was going to make the team, so …," Babcock said. "We want to see everybody. We gave him a good go [Friday]. We're comfortable with that line. We've got other things that we're going to have to solve, so we'd like to solve them."

Team Canada goaltenders Braden Holtby and Corey Crawford will split the game. Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will be in the lineup and Jake Muzzin will be scratched.

Goalie Cory Schneider will start for Team USA and will be backed up by Ben Bishop. Forward James van Riemsdyk will replace David Backes, and defenseman Erik Johnson will play in place of Matt Niskanen, USA Hockey said on its Twitter account.

Team USA forward Zach Parise said it needs to clean up its breakouts and limit Team Canada's scoring chances from the heart of the slot.

"As far as the intensity of the game, I mean, it was awesome," Parise said. "It didn't feel like an exhibition game at all. It felt like almost like a regular playoff game. Some great players on the ice. It was a fun game to play in."

Team Canada forward Claude Giroux said he was sore after taking a hit into the boards Friday but will play.

"Didn't feel too good," Giroux said. "Obviously when you play hockey you're going to get a couple bruises here and there. You've just got to play through it."

He said the soreness was unrelated to offseason hip and abdominal surgery.
