And when a Liberal is losing a debate they call the other person a fascist.

Does it really bother you seeing a sign in Cantonese at a Chinese supermarket?
When it means that anyone who doesn't speak/read Cantonese in an English speaking province cannot shop there? Yea is does bother me.
PrimeDirective wrote:
Do you just find it so grotesque seeing people speak German to each other?
No, it is called being bilingual, which a fair number of Germans are. I have not seen a German ghetto in Canada, they all know how to speak English, so we do not get the segregation problem.
PrimeDirective wrote:
You do not even answer about people born here who choose not to speak English.
When that happens most likely it was the parents who did that to the child and not the child him/herself. The issue is not what they speak in their own homes to each other the question is IF they need to talk to someone, like a police officer, paramedic, government official, firefighter, or an everyday civilian, CAN they do it? What happens if there is an emergency, like an earth quake, fire, virus outbreak, assault, or rape, and there are no translators around and people die because of it? Was asking people to know a common language really that bad?

Furthermore do not hijack the excuse of learning a language to cover your racist ideology and insecurities.
What does language have to do with racism? Language does not define what race someone belongs to. A common language however is needed to have open communication between people, lack of communication leads to misunderstandings which can escalate into mistrust, hate and violence.

you mention Richmond and Surrey and label them as ghettos and would have them perhaps destroyed under the premise of not converting and that they are dangerous places. I do not remember feeling any danger at a midnight market in Richmond and the only danger I found in Surrey was mostly from English speaking young people due to mostly some its impoverished neighbourhoods. But I suppose being poor should be a crime too.
Where do you get thinking that I am promoting violence, did I say anywhere that we should roll in the troops and starting killing? I never said you would feel unsafe in Surrey or Richmond, I said London, England. Read before you post. Surrey and Richmond are examples of areas that are at risk of falling down the same path of segregation and isolation that is happening in Europe.

I think society can naturally choose how to speak and it should not be criminal in choosing to do so. It should not be a crime choosing where you want to live and who you want as neighbours. You mention the “how” people live well if they respect individual liberty and property rights then I have no issue at all. I do not care if they read different literature, eat different food, or worship different Gods. I do not care where they come from.
I would advise some cultural and religious studies for you, along with maybe retaking high school. I don't care where they come from, I don't care what they eat, I don't care what god (cause I do not believe he exist), what I do care about is showing some respect to the country they move to. The most simple form of respect would be to learn the language, refusing to do so is much like saying "Hey yea I am going live here, but I have no intention of ever talking to you. Don't bother talking to me.

So I guess that I do not like my girlfriend, or my two best friends, or most of my friends for that matter.
