From Telus, they always have great specials on at Christmas, I am one of the lucky few who got it. I have many friends who want my plan.
I guess I am so commited to GSM phones that I couldn't care less of anything else.
Well, there are signs everywhere that CDMA networks are coming to an end. The development of the new LTE network (which is GSM-based) and Telus speaking of adopting the technology are just a couple of signs that GSM is the way of the future.
theres a lot going on with the spectrum auction... a lot of which i dont really understand but there are definite exciting times ahead for canada's cellular world.
Spectrum auctions have the potential to bring a lot of dollars in the public coffer if they are done competitively and transparently. Bidding in Industry Canada's spectrum auction since it began at the end of May was almost at $4.2 billion on Thursday, more than doubling the amount of money originally expected.
Here is a new piece of news that's floating around the web lately. It seems that Apple is cutting iPhone 3G shipments to Rogers. Apple has chosen to divert a large portion of Rogers' iPhone 3G stock to European markets.
Could this be a result of the massive consumer backlash?
Bell and Telus customers can avoid the charge by switching to Rogers, which says it has no plans to institute a fee to receive a text message. But Bell and Telus both charge penalties if customers break their contracts, at $20 for every month remaining on a broken contract up to $400.
"We just don't charge for it, and have no plans to. Now it's a unique differentiator for Rogers," company spokeswoman Elizabeth Hamilton said of the move to charge for incoming messages.

They probably figure with all the money they'll be getting by ripping off iphone customers they can afford not to levy the fee.
But I am canceling my service with Telus and will not be getting a cell phone from any of the big three for the foreseeable future. That is it I'm done.

Electromagnetic spectrum auctions give a monopoly right on a property of nature. Therefore, economic justice requires first to implement the lockean proviso.

ok first off rogers charges the same cancellation fee so wording it to sound like they dont is cheap.
also, with telus, you can either block the messages or for as little as 5 bucks a month you can get 250 text to send and unlimited to receive.

I have a BlackBerry Curve and it's great. I don't care for the IPOD controls so I don't think I want them on my phone either.

Rogers caves on iPhone 3G plans, offers up 6GB for $30 a month
Those kind, gentle Canadians have been oh-so-politely demanding a few heads on sticks ever since Rogers' super-spendy iPhone 3G price plans were announced. Well, apparently their cries have been heard, and now Rogers is launching a promotional offer along with the iPhone of 6GB of data for $30 a month -- not quite unlimited data, but close enough -- which can be added on top of any regular voice plan. The promo will be available for iPhone buyers who activate with a three year contract before August 31. Also, perhaps in a bid to dispel some nasty rumors about a major iPhone shortage, Rogers will be hosting 8AM launch day events at six Rogers Plus stores in major Canadian cities, complete with a free breakfast. Mmm, breakfast.
Looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel after all.

A promotional offer that may well be a catchy hook.
