Myers makes a persuasive case that we should instead regard the Kim Jong-il system as a phenomenon of the very extreme and pathological right. It is based on totalitarian "military first" mobilization, is maintained by slave labor, and instills an ideology of the most unapologetic racism and xenophobia.
So we're to believe that North Korea is more akin to factions of the Repulican Party than Stalin?
I think he's talking Nazis and Fascists, not Republicans. Screwed-up authoritarian left and screwed-up authoritarian right are pretty similar.
Agreed, but when Daddy, lived with and became the consumate acolyte of a certain Russian dictator and owed all his power and prestige to said dictator, it's a pretty good assumption that the regime would be very much akin to what the master wanted, which was a socialist Dictatorship as opposed to a Right wing Dicatatorship ala Adolf Hitler.
Hence the term Stalanist dictatorship. Maybe if Mr Meyer had been alive when Stalin and the Beloved Leader were, he might have come to a different conclusion about calling the batshit crazy country of the century............right wing.
