Hmm, that's not factually correct. While Britain was a strong power back then, to me superpowers grow on scale everytime we reach new stages in human development. I mean, could we compare the British during their time of power to the United States during their time of power? You sure like to boast. I'll give you the line about the civil war though, but this line about Britain being the greatest superpower the world had ever known seems inaccurate, unless you are talking in terms of the times.

On another note, I don't see what it really matters that the White House was destroyed. Alot has changed since 1812. I mean what, is Cananda or Britain still able to come and burn down the white house and treat the US like a little bitch? All this talk of burning down the White House smells of insecurity....

Yes, Britain was the superpower buddy while the U.S was a weak budding country. That was history, this is now. At least I hope he was talking about then because if so I agree that Britain isnt a superpower now. To you talk about anybody burning down the white house today with Canada and Britain is just plain retarded. Lol, how is telling history insecure, to me you smack of insecurity. Its like when Americans go back to WWII and say they saved everybody, im sure you know what I mean. You also need to drop the matter and stop adding on to it just because you dont like that the U.S wasnt a superpower then.

Dude, I'm not disputing that. I know Britain was a superpower then, I'm talking about if he was referring to Britain being the greatest superpower EVER. You completely misread me, and the tone of your post is rude. I think World War 2, and the burning of the White House are completely different things. The burning of the White House was an act by a powerful country against a weak one, but people use it now days like "haha, we burned down your white house, take that" when in all honesty it doesn't really mean anything anymore. I understand it's telling history, but people don't use it in a historical sense, they usually seem to use it in a sense like "you guys are little bitches, we burned down your white house, take that." That is mainly the people I was going after. Anyone who wants to talk about it in a historical way, then fine, I've just seen people who bring up comments like it actually means something today. I could give two shits that the US wasn't a superpower back then, so stop putting words/thoughts on me. I never said "damn, why wasn't the US a superpower back then." You are having an extreme reaction to a post that wasn't even really directed at you. I think always talking about the burning of the White House(which has been cleared up sooooooooooooooooooooooo many times here)shows insecurity, especially when people use it like it means something, such as when they go "oh yeah, we burned down your white house, and we will do it again." It's ridiculous to think of the world map from then in present terms today. Anyone who wants to clear up the whole issue and talk about it in a civil, intelligent way, I don't give a fuck, but when people have to talk about it like Greatbriton, and put laughing and all that in, it becomes ridiculous.

Also, I'm American and I don't go back to World War 2 and say we saved everybody. It was an allied effort.

Ill just say this, who do you think started this thread? Not a Canadian I assure you. Another American trying to stir shit up and your just adding fuel to the fire by slamming individuals. And if my post was rude, so was yours, and eye for an eye. You also need to calm down and rethink your lot in life instead of getting riled up over stuff like this.

Good call U

I think the point remains the same, Canada may not have existied as a country then, but the relatives of those who did do the burning are still here and that which became Canada is still here, so we became independent, the towns of the battle are still here, the white house still smells smoky, and besides, even if it wasn't "Canadians" the us still got its bum whuped by the Brits (who many later became that which is Canadians) and the Spaniards/Mexicans "remember the alamo, slave owners" and the Koreans and the Vietnamese and the ... my fingers are getting tired.

Here just listen to this for a while, it'll sooth your nerves

Well, considering your eye for an eye policy, I don't think you should be giving me any advice on how I should calm down or what not, because an eye for an eye implies you are sinking to the same level as me. I wasn't trying to start shit either because it was GreatBriton who said stuff first. I said I agreed with what GreatBriton said about the revolution actually being a civil war, when you think about who was involved, but I thought that if he was talking about Britain being the greatest superpower ever, he was mistake, but as I see now, I was probably mistaken in saying that. I don't think he needed to add the "hahhaaaaaaa" bullshit though, because THAT is what starts flamming amongst people. I do like though how you are trying to start stuff with me and ignore anything he says, and act like I'm mister troll going around starting shit with people. I found his "hahahaaaaaaa" stuff to be uncalled for. This is another fine example of somebody trying to demonize an American. I know it goes both ways, but don't act like I'm some troll because of one post to GreatBriton, who I have talked to before and who is often rude and mean towards Americans.

The Korean war was an allied effort, and it wasn't just the Koreans, it was the Koreans and the Chinese.

http://www.historychannel.com/perl/prin ... ?ID=214043

The Allies had actually captured the North Korean capital, but China became involved and that's when things went pretty bad(they had gone bad at first too).

About the US losing wars....oh my god man, we are superhuman, we can't lose any wars,....can you sense the sarcastic tone? Americans are humans like anyone else, and I believe that winning a war comes down to heart. Tons of countries throughout history, whether Russia, or Germany, or France, or whatever have lost wars. Oh well, I really don't like talking to you because you have so much hatred and I know you will start flamming me and bashing me after this post, as you usually do, and UofSaskatchewan will probably praise you and love you and call me a troll.
