Kadaffi kind of brought this on himself with the rhetoric that he was basically going to slaughter a good chunk of his civilian population.

but this is what bothers me--Another regime change and I don't think either Canada or the US bothered to go through Congress/Parliament. Getting to be a habit now, leaders unilaterally deciding to go to war. Rather undemocratic way to install democracies.

It is a bad re-starting of a trend in the US. Even Iraq had congressional approval.

Ha!

I have to admit, I don't much like the wars-without-congressional-approval thing. I think I'd support a change to the status quo that returned a congressional vote for any boots-on-the-ground military operation.

The only thing is, we already have such a law in the War Powers Act. Lately though, presidents have taken an Andrew Jacksonian approach to laws governing entering conflicts; ignoring them.

I also don't like the idea of limiting to "boots on the ground." Dropping bombs on someone for more than 60 days is definitely war, not a kinetic military exercise.

I think the Colonel might be well advised to jump on the next jet to visit his old friend Hugo Chavez before his own people rip him to pieces.

When Hugo people get sick of him and drive him from power, they can "vacation" in North Korea or Zimbabwe.
