Feel free to post any pictures you may have of Muslims demonstrating for gay rights, abortion freedom, Salman Rushdie's right to breathe, and religious choice.
Feel free to post any pics of evangelicals doing the same.
Since you equated Muslims with evangelical Christians I'm left to wonder, do you adamantly defend the rights of evangelical Christians the same way you defend Muslims?
I adamantly defend the rights of anybody to believe what they want, and to practice what they want as long as that doesn't infringe on other people's rights. I adamantly defend the idea that freedoms should be restricted only when absolutely necessary, not just 'cause you don't like what somebody else is doing.
And I stand by my earlier comment. If American style evangelicals were constituted the a very large majority of US citizens, the way Islam does in in Islamic countries, they would start pushing their weight around just as much as the Muslims do in their countries. The fundamental beliefs are the same - "we have the only true way and must convert others to it." Thank God that so far they are still a minority - they've already caused enough trouble in the form of George Bush. Guiding your Israel policy by Revelation is not a good idea either.
Just to be clear, I don't lump all evangelicals in the same boat. I know there is a movement within them to focus more on doing social good rather than abortion and neocon ideology. I guess those would be left wing evangelicals - ie way closer to what Yeshua ben Joseph was teaching.
On a personal note, I was bike touring in the US once and lost my wallet, which had my return train ticket and all my traveler's checks. (Before the days of credit cards). I had 50 cents in my pocket. The guy at the bike store said they could not give me what my bike was worth, when I tried to sell it. Instead he said I could stay at his house and he would lend me some money which would allow me to get to a city where I had a friend who could lend me airfare home. He took me home, showed me the fridge, etc, gave me a key and said he had to leave for Bible College that night, just to throw the key thru the mail slot when I was ready to go. I think that was very Christian behavior, and it's something I keep in mind when I get slagging the evangelicals (or Americans) too much.
