Who cares whether he is Muslim or not? He is a victim of a crime, and he is fighting to have his attacker not be put to death. His religion or his sexual orientation is not important.

Unless you want to make the point that not all Muslims want non-Muslims dead (although I do not recall what his attackers religion is).

I think that's what Scape was trying to point out. Most Muslims are big on revenge and life for a life. But then so are many posters on CKA.

How do we know he's a Muslim? I see nothing in the article that indicates his religion.

Yes, Rais Bhuiyan is attempting to do something noble here for which I applaude his efforts. It is not something that we usually hear from a Muslim these days especially from American News networks.

I am a bit less generous than Mr Bhuiyan. I am not overly wild about the death penalty, but if there was ever a case where it is appropriate I think this is it. Mark Stroman is a disgusting individual who we would be better off without.

So this White Supremacist now considers his Muslim victim to be among his closest friends and someone who has touched his heart shown him the light and taught him about humanity and peace among nations.

BUT-Interesting point here:

Had there been no death sentence in the first place, there would have been no opportunity for the victim to come to Stroman's defence and plead for his life. Therefore, it is unlikely that Stroman would have reformed and renounced his evil ways had he not been sentenced to die.

This is a good story. My hat is off to Mr. Bhuiyan. It is very noble and admirable of someone to forgive someone who tried to kill them. Mr. Bhuiyan is a much better man than me. However we must remember that murder is a crime against the State. The State has the final say in what the punishment should be. This particular State happens to be be Texas. No State executes more convicts than Texas. No State is more proud of executing convicts than Texas. Mr. Stroman needs to spend more time getting ready to meet his maker, and less time trying to stay his date with the executioner.
