I'm all for a strong relationship between the USA and the UK, but isn't calling the USA Britain's "most important ally" a bit insulting to the commonwealth monarchies?

It would be if we had nukes, supercarriers and SSBNs.

I wouldn't Gunny, you're likely to pick up a disease. ;)

I wonder if he brought Churchill's bust with him....

Meh. People read too much into these tings. Christ, we went to a national state of apoplexy when George Bush visited Mexico before he visited Canada after he got elected. And it was to the American president, so I guess she's going to say nice things.

We all know the monarchy will die with Elizabeth II anyways. Britain and Canada will continue to be allies.

This is like U2 telling the fans in every city that they play that they are the best.

Technically since we're part of the Commonwealth, we really aren't an ally.

well India, Zimbabwe and Pakistan are members too, but I don't know if I'd refer to them as allies.

Hopefully O will lose some of his Anglophobia. I'm finding it a bit irritating.

That was my take. Sort of the difference between kin and friends, you can pick your friends.

No, it won't. Not in Britain anyway. I can't see the British getting rid of the monarchy and replacing it with a President Cameron or a President Miliband anytime soon.

Just mention the words "President Cameron", "President Miliband" or "President Clegg" to anybody and it'll ensure they'll become a monarchist until the day they die.
