I have a Manfrotto Tripod. Its a 190CXPRO4 190 MAG fibre. 100% carbon fibre, uber light.

Eisen, Try out a bunch of tripods and see what feels right to you.

Now for tripods, are they all pretty much the same?

Manfrotto or Bogen, don't go cheap like at Future Shop. You will only end up replacing the cheapie.

Alright, now for filters, I picked up a UV filter mainly to protect my lense. Are there any others out there that you recomend on getting. I'm thinking of doing alot of noir and night shooting.

Filters are a point which causes much debate among photogs. Some hate UV's on their lenses saying any glass in front of a lens degrades imagage quality, others use them.
Personally I use high end UV filters on all my lenses for the weather sealing that 'L' lenses give ( B+W, Heliopan, Rodenstock) and I also have circular polarizer's for each lens filter size. Again I replaced all my cheapie cir pols with B+W et al. Cir pols are basically graduated sun glasses for your lens.

I have an early day today, so I went out and play around a bit, I finnaly now have pictures to show you what a Husky, Bison, ELav and TLav are. XD

Now I know most of these pictures look like crap, Im still trying to figure out the right settings. They were all taken as Jpegs as well, 10 min ago I found out how to save them as RAW.

I like filters. I like the Sepia filter for the nostalgic effect it gives to either b&w and colour. There are filter kits out there that have various filters in them so you can play around. I have various coloured lenses as well...B+W is what I have gone with.

They are fine, it's just that the sun is too high. The best time to shoot is either early morning or late afternoon. It stops the harsh shadows and the 'washed out' look on colours. Plus a 'fill in' flash is needed when the light is that bright. RAW helps with adjusting exposure but only so far.

You can get good effects in post processing with photoshop now, most people with digtal use UV, cir pols and ND filters. The other ones kinda died a death with film and I agree on B+W, Heliopan and Rodenstock also use schott glass and have brass rings.
Eisen, get ready to spend a lot of cash!

Also you are getting a bit of flare there, the lens hood or your hand can get rid of that.
