Scape Scape: For us, good. Good. I like Canada. It's a good country. I like hearing that it's always been like this.

Okay, honestly, how are some of you believing that this country is becoming more Anti-American and/or Socialist?
I haven't heard much Anti-Americanism at all lately.
I'm not even seeing the word "American" being pawned around in the current election ads.
I haven't heard anyone bring it up anywhere other then here at CKA.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: In the 1860's, if it weren't for our paranoid fear of the United States, which was heavily well-grounded, especially with a call for annexation in 1866, we would have never had the need to become our own country. We would have remained British colonies until being devoured by Manifest Destiny. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

sandorski sandorski: I think you ran out of new thread ideas about a month back.
Here an idea for a thread: America becoming more Fascist & Anti-American? Oh not to worry sandorski, I wasn't pointing out any members as being socialist/maxists wackos.. however some of your posts do swing that way now that I think about it. No. No. The reason for this thread is I have been surfing a few other forums and notice that Canadians have a general dislike of American imperialism, U.S. Citizens in some cases, and feel that Canada always get's the short end of the stick. Sure.. in some ways I can understand their point if view.. and understand why many are swinging towards a protectionist political party like NDP. Just not sure that the United States is the problem, and it could be more from an economy and ever changing labor base that is in hyper space as new technology is developed.

Everyone dislikes American Imperialism almost as much as Americans deny its' existance.

We should be more Socialist, and if that means being less like the Americans, than that is great with me.
I am sick and tired of the election ads coming out, especially those from Harper, who tries to come off as a "warm and fuzzy" politician who will do good for all Canadians.
WRONG!!
Let us remember the days of Brian Mulroney, and the Conservatives running our country. The huge deficit caused my them, the GST, NAFTA (it benefited some but not all). Do we want another Conserative gov't where big business runs our lives, and less Socialist values for all the people?
There are some good Americans who understand us, and accept that we are Canadians, and that we have different values. But unfortunately, they are not running the country, but big business and big oil companies are. They do not care about the well being of all people, just their own little "rich group"of people.
I would rather have Canada become more like France, Great Britain or other simular countries rather than the USA.
Check out the documentry done by Michael Moore called "Sicko".
DOWN WITH THE CONSERVATIVES!!!!!!!

DOWN WITH THE CONSERVATIVES!!!!!!! Let us remember the past couple of years and how Harper didn't ruin the country. Check out the documentary done by Michael Moore called "Sicko". Notice how we are one of the countries with universal health care. Also notice how Canada isn't America.

All I am saying is look at the history of our country.
My thinking may be a bit left of centre, but if it means good for all instead of the rich, than so be it!!!!!
