Everyone dislikes American Imperialism almost as much as Americans deny its' existance.
Maybe what you consider American Imperialism, can be looked at as American Patriotism from a U.S. Citizens point of view.

Imperialism:
the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas ; broadly : the extension or imposition of power, authority, or influence <union imperialism>
See also Empire
a major political unit having a territory of great extent or a number of territories or peoples under a single sovereign authority
See also manifest destiny (not, not the idiot from NYC)
a future event accepted as inevitable <in the mid-19th century expansion to the Pacific was regarded as the Manifest Destiny of the United States> ; broadly : an ostensibly benevolent or necessary policy of imperialistic expansion
No nation wishes to be under the dominion of another nation - benevolent or otherwise. Your version of American patriotism stands in direct opposition to the world's view of national sovereignty.
