Geeze you guys have a lot of excuses not to join a simple website. Joining CKA wasn't to conformist for you was it?

You like facebook good on you. We just have no use for it. Many people our age join it to be on it. It's the "in" thing. I've just never been much of a follower.
I understand that, but a lot of people joined it to connect with friends. Apperantly young people nowadays don't do things because others do? What other things won't you do because everyone else does? No tattoo's for you, or earings, forget a drivers license.

Tattoo's never I hate needles. I'm sorry If you find me harsh I just prefer to not blindly follow.

Like Dan said Roight....Dan and I just don't make great sheep.
Hmmm

I don't think joining Facebook has anything to do with being cool. Some of us, like myself, join because it's the easiest way to keep in touch with people, especially since I'm living abroad.

I can post my pictures, stories, blurbs, whatever, all in the one spot and everyone can read it instead of me having to email everyone and repeat myself over and over again. It makes me feel more connected to those back home and for that I'm grateful!

It has nothing to do with being cool. Nothing at all.
*sigh* No one ever listens. Facebook has usefulness if you have lost touch with people you want to contact again. But I haven't lost touch with any one. So there is no reason for me to sign up. The people from highschool didn't either. They signed up because everyone else did.
That's a legit reason, but saying you didn't join up because you're not sheep is kinda lame.

Ruez we said that last night. Our reasons, you just didn't want to hear us.
I heard you fine, it's the sheep part that annoyed me. A lot of people join it to use it for it's intended purpose, not because it's what everyone's doing.

People our age who do it are sheep. They talk to the same people on facebook that they have on msn.

Heh! Some stories from the facebook crowd.

$1:
My experience with facebook was horrible. I found that I was pressured into getting more friends, and when I caught up to my buddies, they would immediately rush to bolster their friends list on steriods. (facebook tallies the number of your friends)

I had all these weird people I've met only once sending me insincere emails on how I was doing just so they could add me as a friend. I soon discovered that everybody on facebook was obbsessed with adding friends so they didn't look like a social reject, 50 friends, 80 friends on and on it went. I surcumbed to the pressure and started adding people I didn't really care about.

As a working professional i found my time being stretched and dwindled because of it. It seems like the people who spend alot of time on their are lollygaggers, in other words people who still live in their mommy's basement watching transformers and reading comic books. So if your a working professional or manager you've been forewarned.

I lose respect for more people every day. It's just a stupid website. You don't have to accept friend requests from anyone, you don't have to post your own picture. Christ people are stupid.

People just take this stuff too seriously. Why get all bent out of shape over a silly website. Just limit your personal info. Or don't sign up at all. I just don't get people sometimes.

I'm ONE of 'the old guys' here on CKA and I got 'farcebook! Why? Cuz I've told other people about CKA and they have joined us here. They won't tell me 'who they are' but assure me they are in fact members of CKA. I haven't told them what name I use here either! Two of them sent me 'invites to join farcebook so I reciprocated. I use it as a blog, such as it is.Post a few pics is all. I like simple and there doesn't seem to be much for 'instructions' on how to do stuff. You gotta try to figure it out and for me, it ain't worth the effort!Very frustrating.I'm still trying to find the first pics that I posted there. And when I go to 'my' home page, somebody elses pics are there! What's with that??? It's just 'something else to do' when you have 'nothing else to do'!

I never thought I'd use facebook when my friends started inviting me to use it...I've always passed on sites like it, alot of my friends added it, and I saw them fool around on it, then I thought what the heck. I'm hooked to it now LoL. I've found old friend from way back who I'd otherwise would never have found.

Facebook

this comment is so true , a while back some of my roomates were discussing facebook and one mentioned he had over 30 people on his friends list he didn't even know.
myself i got a few weird friend requests but i eventually traced them back to where they were coming from.
people who only had me on there msn were adding me as a friend by accident due to the feature on facebook that allows you to add friends from your msn address book.

myself currently have many people i haven't seen in person in months on my facebook and at least 20 i have never even meet in person ever . so my friendslist is geting rather silly and isn't really a list of my friends in real life.

Facebook and my short attention span are the two contributing factors to my failing of Linguistics this year. That and it's Linguistics.

at my college you walk in the library on any given day and at least 50% of the computers are on fcaebook or at least on it part of the time.
its becoming a problem and a major distraction issue, which will only get worse as more people sign up for the site.
