It doesn't translate down like that. The upper end market is high because of rich Chinese buyers, (and that has apparently slowed down). The average properties are expensive because we have a huge influx of people of more modest means and not much room to build unless we want to destroy what little farmland we have left. Plus the resistance of the people already here to increasing housing density.
