-38°C....actual temp without any windchill factored in, and we're not the cold spot.

I was watching KTLA and they said 5 to 10 ft of snow. 1.5 to 3 m of snow. It's not like you guys don't need the moisture.

In '07 we received 10 ft. of rain from Typhoon Morakot in under 72 hours.

Southern California is getting up to three meters of snow. Squaw Valley (NorCal) ski resort right now reports a base of over three meters.

I imagine this will be another one of those epic years when the Sierra ski areas are open until after July 4th. :P

Damn.

Greek islands declare state of emergency after heavy snow 8O

$1:
Greece has declared a state of emergency on three islands in the Aegean as the country grapples with record snowfall and freezing temperatures as a major cold snap sweeps across continental Europe.

The storm has so far dropped more than two metres of snow, hitting Euboia, Alonnisos and Skopelos in the northern cluster of the Sporades islands the hardest.

About 2,500 residents in Kymi on Euboia remain cut off from other towns as officials struggle to clear highways and country roads.

In Skopelos, fire fighters have scrambled to rescue dozens of people trapped in treacherous conditions. And in Alonissos, a popular tourist resort, cash-strapped municipalities were left waiting for assistance from the central government on Monday to restore a local power grid.

Holy crap! So many places getting hit hard right now but it's still mid-January so to be expected I guess.

We're very lucky here right now. Temps hanging out around 0 during the day but the last of the snow we got last week has pretty much vanished.

Another beautiful day today and a few more to come before more white stuff shows up on the weekend.

Maybe in Richmond, climb a few feet above sea level and you'll find the snow is still hanging in....

Avalanche warnings in the Sierra. Squaw Valley this morning reported twelve feet of snow (three meters) over the past eleven days on top of a three meter base from previous storms.

Flooding all around Sacramento and Northern California. The pond at Land Park has overflowed into Land Park Drive and traffic was stopped there this morning.

Precipitation is now over 190% of average, the dams are all overflowing, and the State Department of Water Resources is still trying to tell us we're in a drought.

Tried to find the shut off valves for the outside taps... couldn't.

Called the owner, he came over... nope.

Called the idiot plumber who did work on the house 2 years ago..... he found one.

Hope it doesn't get much colder. 8O
