Edmonton ships snow plows and crews to Calgary to help with storm

The City of Calgary has activated its municipal emergency plan and called in reinforcements from neighbouring cities in response to a massive October snowfall.

Chief Tom Sampson of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency said Edmonton, Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Okotoks have offered to send equipment and operators to help with snow-removal efforts.

Officials with the City of Edmonton said 30 plows and 60 crew members are being sent to Calgary. They are expected to stay for 24 to 36 hours, Edmonton director of infrastructure operations Janet Tecklenborg said.
