Winter came late last year too, didn't it?

I just remember it as refusing to go away once it arrived.

Another snowfall warning for tomorrow... ONLY 15-20cm are expected though.

I'm at the point where I'm jaded by 20cm of snow.

-30 yesterday morning. -3 today. The cold snap officially broke!

Not the longest, or the coldest we've ever had. But it's been a while!

Now I have to get the water running again . .

I ventured out in to the snowy wastes today. The sun shone brightly. The air was warm against my face, the snow had began to melt and form into small pools along the long disused roads. I heard a sound in the trees. Birds? maybe other life had survived too. Winter has loosed her icy grip. Maybe it'll warm. Maybe life can return to these forsaken lands. Maybe today I'll meet other survivors.

One season of "Hell on Wheels" (filmed in the Calgary area) actually begins like that. Our anti-hero starts by digging himself out of a snowed in railcar, and checking on the neighbours to find they froze to death.

Climate??? Where did that come from? Of course "Climate" changes. Ever heard of glacial ice ages?

We're talking local weather. And last late winter in BC "the weather outside was frightful." Winter wouldn't leave. Forget about February. The farmers were still wondering if they'd get their crops planted, in May, even early June in some places. And last August these shrimpy little peaches turned up on the shelves from the Okanagan. First time we'd ever seen teeny weeny little, shrimpy peaches like that in August from the Okanagan. The Chilliwack corn was kind of dry and not as sweet as it usually is too. Also a little shrimpy.

Hell on Wheels was great. Anson Mount is a wonderful actor. I loved his thank you letter to Calgary. Pure Class.

Low CO2 content and low atmospheric pressure means it holds little of the daytime heat overnight.

Lets build factories on Mars and give it the atmosphere it deserves! If we move all production to Mars we can make the Eco-weirdos happy here.
