The fuckery I remember is how they nearly double the fine for speeding without a blink. At the time if a fine for going 10mph over the speed limit was $20, overnight it went to $20 for going 10kph over the speed limit........nearly doubling the cost. With the old speedometers 10kph (6.2mph) was just a smidge on the gauge.
