How far are you from Ferguson Lake? I was watching the news, and they said a dozer operator, Doug Owen, went through the ice and drowned last week. He worked for Starfield Resources in Thom(p)son Lake. Always a risk.

That's what I was told a couple of weeks ago.We do have a barge froze in at
Rankin inlet, and a few others. They have a million gallons of fuel to get off that barge.

This saddens me.
[quoteStarfield Resources Inc. (Starfield) is currently exploring a mineral deposit containing significant quantities of palladium, platinum, nickel, copper and cobalt on its property at Ferguson Lake in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut Territory, Canada. The property is 240 km west of Rankin Inlet, 160 km south-southwest of Baker Lake and 765 km north of Thompson, Manitoba.

Quote: i have now been in a strom in the tundra and buddy let me tell you ,it's as bad as you hear. visiabiliaty is down to 10 feet in front of you at best if isn't snowing and just blowing snow ,if you have any exposed skin it will freezes in matter of minutes, and plus trying to walk in to the wind takes a great deal of effert.it is life and death up here and mother nature has no mercy ,so yes we (the workers) are crazy ,but a extereme crazy that not many people can say they have every done or every will experierce.
HaHa,wait untill feb. when the shit really hits the fan.

Sweet looking machine.Where's that at? The truck looks familiar. This was a Certified Caterpillar Rebuild done in the US someplace, just some pictures that were sent to me. I've never seen one work either. As big as it is, it would still probably rattle your teeth on those damn n****r heads. The company I use to work for were always buying Fording’s used 16 G's, mostly for parts and some were just painted yellow and off to Ritchie’s Auction. Man they were usually a piece of crap by the time Fording were done with them. When I look at the pic of it next to Cat's other big grader it just take's my breath away. Imagine doing a county road and just winging the farmers right off the road as they come at you. Payback time. :wink Fording rebuilds......or cat 98% rebuild fording specials. I wore a few of those 16g's out, then we would get them back, same for d10's,when Fording wore one out,it was shipped to the rebuild shop in sparwood and became a fording special. Most were pretty good but a few had fell off a dump or something and twisted bad.Paint can hide that but the ride cant.As senior operator at the mine I had my pick of iron as it came on the property.
The ones we bought weren't rebuilt, they still had that blue paint on them. The company had 4 16's of their own and would cannibilize Fordings, for the parts to keep them going. It was suppose to be a cost cutting thing but after a couple of years they found out they weren't saving to much.

Remote camp 100 miles south of the arctic circle....and we ran out of fuel a month or so ago,and we have 4 barges froze in at Hudsons bay.A guy died the other day on a d4 at Rankin inlet trying to get to one of the barges.
