Second thoughts? Talkin to my bud at camp, they ran out of fuel again today, whats in the bottom of the fuel barrels is mostly slush. They sent the 4 Innuit out to get more drums across the lake but right now there down.
I'm getting a really bad feeling about this tour, wanted to document it in case something happens.Call it instincts or whatever, maybe I shouldnt have cruised through that aviation site last night that showed all the bird strikes on jet engines.
2 hour drive to Calgary in a bit and I'm off to Yellowknife. This time tommorow night I'll be "chillin at the iglu" without my luggage. At least I hope I will be chillin there.
My bags will probably cruise all over Canada untill someone gets sick of seeing them for the third time and throws them off the plane.

well I called that one right....Im chillin at the iglu hotel without my luggage. Good thing its blizzarding so I can go buy some more clothes in the morning, dont think were getting any closer to camp tomm.I'm not leaveing town without winter gear anyways They finished the last part of the road into camp, last ten miles are over the lake for now but its a lifeline we need for fuel and stuff.
Santa clause got on the plane in yellowknife,he flew to Rankin with goodies and when we got to the airport there was about 400 kids waiting with lists, must have been every kid in town.He even had mrs Clause with him. After they were done in Rankin they flew off to Iqaluit to give out more treats.Quite the show, guess he flys all over Nunavut doing this,he just flys in a jet now instead of a sleigh.
He kept up the act the whole time, maybe he is real.

Maybe I'm just cheap, but the only time I'd pay that is if I had forgotten to pack them in the first place. Or if I was stranded in Baker Lake and had a sure thing lined up for Friday night.
What were you planning to use the duct tape for Zig ?

Who knows,it's just a good thing to have if you have nothing.
I have a whack of reciepts for the boss, let him and Agnico fight over who pays them.
Nice to get to camp and get a real cup of coffee and good grub, the other day here the waitress ran over and hand scooped my onion rings off my plate and on to another customers, said I didnt order them. She's a whole different culture here. I'll be on the brand new 140 grader on the ice road, got my sat radio, only 8 of us up there through xmas and new year.Good thing because after 4 days my name is on a few lists for arainged marriages.(sp) I must make sure to tell mukluk Mary that my bud will be here tommorrow. payback time! Plus I have a few womans thongs to throw in the dryer when he does his clothes as the female cook allways checks and does laundry when bored. She doesnt have to but thinks of the guys at camp as family, she's going to be there through xmas also as her one son never comes to visit her.Sad,when we learned this we asked if they could ask her if she wanted to stay,it made her so happy.I cant wait to hear her "Allo Allo!" again.
So in an hour I get to drive on Nunavuts newest and longest road.Hope to see some muscox! 2 hour drive.

After 4 days of stareing out the window at the airport waiting for a plane or van with my bags I got to see main street and one thing stuck out.
They have no cel phones here,no texting, very little internet. The kids spend all day outside playing, fighting, fishing, hunting, playing road hockey,or just cruising around.
Reminds me of when I was a kid.
And after going through 2 santa clause deals and thousands of kids I never heard one single one cry or yell. Not a one.

It'll be a Christmas with a life time of memories, for sure.

Havent seen it but I heard it has, also 2 broken rods and a hole in the block. The op. said it just went from 2200 to nothing, think there would be a murphy switch on that eh?
I get to walk the new d9 from the end of the unfinished Nuna road to here, about 20 kliks over virgin tundra, now that's going to be sweet!!!! Their floating it up tomm. to the end of the road.We ice road the last 20 kliks to camp for now.
Finally in camp, got locked out of the hotel this morning with one bag. My duffell bag has holes worn through it from going around the turnstile baggage thing at Yellowknife for 2 days.I can tell from the paint also on it from rubbing the wall there. It's got more tags on it then an American hunter in Canada.

Everyones leaveing by the 21st except for 8 of us and I'm BOSS for the duration. Time to whip this camp into shape.
First I have to learn how to do the timesheets, lets see....thats 16 for me. Nice raise too, about 60%
Big time turnaround lately because of weather and conditions. It may be cold but there's no wind and the northern lights are awesome right now so it's really quite beautifull.Should get some awesome pics this time around as no one's ever stayed here during the winter before.
Pussies!

A.R.
I saw the grader today for the first time, hydraulic wing but for a 160 it sure seems tiny, too small for a mine like the size they have planned but I will make do,I saw the bent and broke rods this morning along with the machine.I would say the breather getting plugged by blowing snow caused it as would the mech. who looked at it. No holes in the block,I'll be able to use it this next month if need be.The new parts just came in tonight by van on the ice road,It does have a radio so my sirrius system will work. I'm going to load tomm. with the 350 hoe and were going to park everything and then relax as all the bigwigs leave. We do have 6 or so people in from outland putting up the camp, there cost plus so dont think they will getting much help from me,I'm not here to set up a camp.
Think their going to find that out after day 1,dont care what part of Toronto they came from. When they found out there was going to be a few guys in camp they thought they would work right through hauling the new camp in,I said sure, pull you off the lake if needed but im not here to set up a camp so give your boys some days off, send them home for xmas, come back january 12th when it just starts to get ugly here.
Bautifull here now,no wind for 3 days.so it's not that cold.
