These are the questions I would like to ask a Native American.

If you feel up for it, pm me or just post the reply here. I would greatly appreciate it, as its an important assignment.



1. Where were you born and what was life like there?

2. Which nation, band or First Nations community do you identify with?

3. Can you discuss a little about your experiences growing up. How did you learn
about the traditions in the area that you lived?

4. Has your way of gaining knowledge about your environment changed in your
lifetime? Describe how it has changed and how it has stayed the same.

5. (If interviewing an Elder): What knowledge have you passed down to your
community?

6. Do you feel that you have been the victim of racism or discrimination in your
life? If so, can you describe a time where this occurred?

7. Do you feel that discrimination against First Nations Peoples (or against
people of other ethnic/social background) is a problem in today’s society? If
so, what needs to change?


8. Do you feel that there are any policies or laws in Canada (or BC) that are
unjust towards First Nations Peoples? Can you explain?

9. What are some important issues, in your opinion, facing First Nations Peoples
in your community today?

10. If you could change one thing in Canadian society, what would it be?

11. What do you think is the most important thing for young people to learn
from your experiences?

12. What advice can you give to young people today in your community about
preserving culture?

Well, that's something different.


Most reserves have webpages and email now. I would suggest you
find a reserve close to you, and contact them directly.

Who knows, maybe they can assign your questions to the school,
and have a good giggle answering you.

No, there are lots of reserves around.

I'm guessing Mississauga or Etobicoke.

Could you please define "you guys"?

Do you mean "you guys" as in Natives, "you guys" as in Whites or, "you guys" who responded on this forum to what appears to be an immature 12 year old asshole with an attitude?

Well if the teacher gave you this assignment. "Interview a native" I don't blame him for going to a message board, and the teacher IMO needs a kick in the nads. Like it's easy to find a native person, and even if you do good luck with them wanting to do an interview.

Even if Blackice pick this on his own subject matter, he was honest about it being a school assignment. He's just looking for a native person to talk to and reaching out here. I don't think he should be part of the "we ain't doing your homework for you" bandwagon.

FWIW Blackice There are no longer self-identifying native members active here that I know of. There use to be, but they haven't posted in a long time and are no longer active.
