My partner went grocery shopping today. The list we'd accumulated was a fair amount but nothing but mostly regular day-to-day shit we needed. $164 later we have some random groceries but that's about fucking it.
herbie herbie:
$8.99 for butter? NINE DOLLARS??
Are you fucking kidding?
Butter today was $5.99 (Compliments brand).
bootlegga bootlegga:
Everything is getting fucking expensive - I can't believe how much meat costs lately.
No kidding! We tend to only buy what's on sale so sometimes our freezer ends up having a variety of selections. We have a vacuum sealer so we can buy those "family packs" of chicken legs/thighs, pork cops or (not top of the line) steaks, on sale and package it up in our meal portions. Last week when he went shopping there was a deal on chicken thighs, buy one package get one free, so for just over $14 we got 2 x 8-pack of thighs.
It is what it is... we are quite basic in our tastes but enjoy the good meals that we cook. While of course it makes sense to be sure to utilize what you have on hand (especially perishables) before it goes tits up, you still must buy stuff you enjoy eating!
