Community sentence

A young woman will serve a community-based sentence after being sentenced on two robbery charges.

Ashley Lorraine Zielke, 23, was sentenced to two years less a day, which will be served in the community.

Zielke was sentenced in Calgary Court of Queen’s Bench on Friday after pleading guilty earlier this year. Sentencing had been adjourned to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Zielke must surrender a sample of her DNA and is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition for 10 years. Other charges were withdrawn in exchange for the guilty pleas. The robberies occurred in September 2006 in Olds.

Using an imitation firearm, Zielke robbed the Mark’s Work Wearhouse and SAAN Store about 20 minutes apart. She fled with some cash, and no one was injured.

She was caught about 20 km west of Olds on Hwy 27 without incident.

Being from the same small town I know this girl, she's not a danger to the public, she's a professional dancer. I think she may have gone a little strange during a 6 month tour, dancing on a cruise ship.

But isn't using a toy gun to commit a robbery, still fucking armed robbery. 2 counts and she only gets house arrest.

At one time her lawyer was preparing her for 4 years. Fuck I can’t believe it.
