Breakfast for me was a type of congee. Pearl barley, mushrooms, and pork stewed in a pot for a day or two. I often walked by the place, but I decided to try it and the owner/cook, who looks like he babysat Confucius (and who only spoke Taiwanese...not even Mandarin), got me to try it. I had that and some fresh grapefruit mixed with green tea(poo tow yo cha).

One of my students just came back from a conference in the States and brought me a bunch of Yancey's cheese. Right now I'm snacking on some Cheddar with roasted garlic, Norwegian dill & herb double cream Cheddar and Bergenost. I've also got a sliced red pepper, half an Anjou pear from Vietnam and a handful of macadamias. All chased down with a low carb mocha(hershey's unsweetened cocoa, espresso, cream and splenda).

Have you had a light soup broth with macaroni and bits of ham? Or bread coated in sweetened condensed milk? All accompanied by tea in a plastic glass. The congees I have had were rice based and then had maybe a tablespoon of preserved vegetables or a couple of small pieces of chicken or duck (think mostly bone with a small amount of meat attached).

Home made Hot & Sour soup. Poured it out of the packet myself.

My carb treat. Half of a baked sweet potato and half of a baked yam, all slathered in sour cream, butter and real bacon bits with grilled onion and sweet bell peppers. I'm also having half of a grilled game hen.

for those of you who think low carb is just meat, cheese and eggs. This was my lunch today. I also had a spinach, pear and macadamia salad and for dessert I had blueberries and cream.

I still feel full from last night. We went out for dinner, with some folks from work and their families, at a new halal Indian restaurant. The palak paneer, kaali daal (lentils), butter chicken and the rogan josh(lamb) were to die for, and the aloo gobi was heavenly. There were a few dishes that I don't know the names of, one was a stuffed tomato, which was popular with everyone, and there were 15 of us. I mopped it up with some onion and garlic parathas. Left overs for lunch.
I had to lie to my son about the palak paneer and tell him it was just spinach and chicken(paneer has a similar texture). Everything came in a mild and spicy version, as we had kids with us.

I had baked chicken with rice tonight. I'd forgotten how tasty that is. Went a little crazy too and had a Coke with it. Livin' large I am! Gotta slow down on all this wild living.

Me too, Bren. Been having a weird craving all day. I even sent Mrs. Lemmy out to get me a Hershey's Special Dark with Almonds. Role reversal. You don't suppose she's knocked me up this time, do you?

Macaroni and hot dogs. After a 15 hour work day, boiling water was the extent of my ambition.
