I think I've solved the problem of what to top the tree with. A goddam stuffed cat!

Until you wrote that (and I Googled)........I had NO idea what a McFarlane was.

Not nearly the conversation piece I suggested .....but one that certainly works well.

I found out about them from a friend who has dozens of them in his house. Now I go to Wal-Mart after Christmas and buy up the cheap ones (usually $5 or so) and hold onto them for year and sell them Ebay.

If you happen to come across a Ryan Smyth/Oilers one, lemme know. I'll save you the trouble of listing it.

I won't be finding one, because his came out back in 2003...and I only started doing this two years ago.

I just did mine on my "date" with a girl from work.

Got a cool shot of the moon from the window though.

Not sure if we're having one this year since we'll be moving next week. Kind of a shame though.........since I've discovered 6 or 7 giant fucking plastic totes full of Christmas decorations along with two trees. WTF??

I had thought of something similar to this, but was cautioned that it may offend some of the 'bluehairs'!
Since I have become accustomed to a steady supply of apple pies, date squares, chocolate chip cookies, hot fresh soup, fresh veggies...
But I do have another 'set-up' in mind for next year.

When I was young, my mom used to make some of the decorations for the tree.
Aluminum paper from cigarette packs became chains and Cheerios were passed through strings and hung on the tree.
Today, no more kids at the house so I hate putting the tree up.
I have a good excuse this year. We're preparing to tear down and rebuild the basement so everything downstairs is now upstairs. No room anywhere for the tree. :D

Every Christmas I'm reminded of how I FAILED to design and patent a Christmas tree stand that actually works.
Saw a guy in the checkouts today with this huge green plastic tub thing, $24.99 th.at once again relies on three pissy little screwthings to hold a tree along one spot. About as efficient as holding your fishing rod with thumb and finger circled an inch from the end with a 30lb salmon on the other....
Kitty made me look at our 'collapsible' P.O.S. to discover that any lean of 100lbs of tree and ornaments relies on two little 1/8" plastic tabs as its structural failing point.

Two tubes of epoxy, six steel plates and a dozen #10 x 1 1/2 Robertsons later and the goddam cat can chase a grizzly up to the top and it might sway a little bit!
GRRR...

Check out the one I posted on the previous page. Might get you the "You scared the daylights out of me!!!" speech, but shouldn't offend anyone out of baking your pies.

(I REALLY wanna do it )
