I love cop shows. Legal shows, PI shows, police consultant shows, all of that. Especially procedurals that focus on how investigation and the courts really work. Especially if it's some aspect of law enforcement that doesn't usually get attention, like hostage negotiation or witness protection or law enforcement in some other time or place. My avatar is from Angel, a show about a vampire/private investigator. That white stripe is a sword. It was a very weird episode. I made a chart of all the investigation shows I could think of. I've seen at least a little of 80% of them, and about 1/3rd of the total runtime. I only know of one Canadian show like that: Da Vinci's Inquest. Are there others? Are they any good?

One small blooper: Deathnote is from Japan, they just dubbed it America.
And Flashpoint is a fantastic Canadian one.

Flashpoint added. Deathnote fixed; I knew that, too. Must have been a copy/paste problem.
Added The Thin Blue Line, too. How did I forget that one? Mr. Bean as a police inspector! Brilliant.
What are everyone's favorite cop shows?

Ehhh, I don't know. When the cancelled the original Law & Order I got kind of pissed off with the entire genre. That hokey manufactured CSI/NCIS crap kind of annoys the hell out of me. The FOX Network police chase shows were kind of fun though.

I'm with ya there, Thanos. CSI/NCIS have lowered the bar that Dragnet/Wolf Films set.
Dick Wolf of Wolf Films is a legend. The man created 15 cop shows consisting of more than 1,200 hours of television depicting law enforcement and investigation, and was a writer or producer on maybe a dozen others. His homage to Dragnet is possibly the best cop show ever made, and Law & Order is the longest running, most award-winning, and easily the best known and most influential. He has explored every angle of law enforcement in a half dozen cities in three countries and in two languages. (His international shows are Law & Order: UK and Paris Criminal Inquiries.) He is the undisputed master of the genre.

The First 48 is probably the most interesting show on television, since it follows real detectives chasing after real criminals.
Who told you Eureka was a cop show? The first episode had him finding a kid, but it's not Law and Order. Fun show though.

British ones, sure. Prime Suspect, Rebus, George Gently, etc.
And of course I loved Buntz.

Exhibit "A", hosted by Graham Greene, is a great show on how forensic sciences were used to solve real Canadian crimes.
You have Magnum PI on your list so you need to include its 80s counterpart Simon & Simon.

what...no one mentioned the Dukes of Hazard and their constant troubles with corrupt government and law enforcement?? For shame.

Eureka is mostly on there to mock a friend of mine who likes it. The main character is a sheriff and he figures out mysteries after a fashion, but it's more about cheesy sci fi. But, hey, I included Scooby Doo, Deathnote, and The A Team. It's a pretty open definition I'm using. I draw the line at the Dukes of Hazard, though.
Kai, if you liked The First 48, you'll like City Confidential.
Oh, yeah, I remember Simon & Simon. Vaguely. It's added, as are Rebus, Inspector George Gently, and Exhibit A (none of which have I heard of before). Exhibit A especially sounds good.
