Scotland is another Scandinavian country geographically, ethnically and historically.

It's only some of the northern clans that are half breeds. It's the English that have closer linguistic ties to the Norse, especially the Danes. The Paddies also have a strong streak of Sven too

The Hebrides and Orkneys are full of bloody Vikings. You might even meet a Dougie Larson.

Clackmannanshire, the first region to report, was a win for the No vote, with 54 per cent rejecting an independent Scotland, compared to 46 per cent for the Yes campaign. In Orkney, the No side won roughly 67 per cent to 33 per cent. In Shetland, another big win for the No side — 64 per cent to 36 per cent. The No side also won in Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, 53 per cent to 47 per cent.

You know what they say, "as goes Clackmannshire, so goes North Arglebarglechester." Or something.

Apparently the Scots did something remarkable that should absolutely be copied everywhere. They banned exit polling and successfully got rid of at least 90% of the media's ability to act like total assholes during their coverage. [B-o]

The first six of 32 regions reporting all went into the No column, with Dundee and West Dunbartonshire then becoming the first centres to fall for the Yes side.

With the next eight going for No, voters choosing to keep the current relationship with the United Kingdom was at 56 per cent, compared to 44 per cent for the Yes campaign, the BBC reported.
